ACT 1:
NARRATOR: In the 16th century, two rich families live in Verona, the Capulets and the
Montagues. They are enemies; they hate each other! And their fights are very frequent. The
Capulets have one daughter, Juliet. The Montagues have one son, Romeo. Here the story begins...
We are in Verona, in a public square.....
(THEY FIGHT)
ROMEO: ahh!
BENVOLIO: What’s up Romeo?
ROMEO: I am sad...
GREG: Why?
ROMEO: I feel depressed.. I feel lonely...
BENVOLIO: well, there is a party tonight. It’s at the Capulet’s palace. Do you want to go?
ROMEO: At the capulet’s palace? They are our worst enemies; they will kill us if we go!
GREG: don’t worry , we will wear masks, it’s a fancy dress party.
BENVOLIO: oh, come on, Romeo!!
ROMEO: well, I don’t know .. it can be dangerous.. ok let’s go! But we must be careful, rifght?
BENVOLIO: everything will be fine
GREG: ... and we will have fun!
(THEY EXIT)
ACT 2:
NARRATOR: We are now at the Capulets’ Palace.. Juliet has a nurse, she is her best friend.
Juliet’s parents decide to make her marry Paris, a noble but cruel man. Later that night Juliet
meets Romeo at a party and they fall in love. (AT THE CAPULETS’ PALACE)
(ENTER PARIS AND JULIET- NURSE BEHIND THEM/ ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE
STAGE: ROMEO+ FRIENDS)
ROMEO: Dear lady, your hand is soft and pure, let this sinner kiss it. (KISS HER HAND)
JULIET: So, your sin is on my hand now?
ROMEO: Oh, God let me take my sin back (KISSES HER HAND AGAIN)
JULIET: you kiss by the boo, sir!
ACT 3:
NARRATOR: we are still at the Capulets’ palace, in their garden. The light you can see is from
Juliet’s bedroom. Romeo wants to see her again. They talk and ,,, (BALCONY SCENE)
JULIET: Oh, Romeo, Romeo, why are you Romeo? Change your name for me. If you love me. I will
not be a Capulet!
ROMEO: call me love and I will not be Romeo anymore!
JULIET: my dear, it’s so dangerous for you to be here! If my family see you, they will kill you
ROMEO: I will face any danger, I am ready to die for your love.
JULIET: how did you arrive here?
ROMEO: love guided me
JULIET: thus, do you really love me?
ROMEO: I love you so much, that I want to ask you something, will you marry me?
JULIET: Yes, I will I love you so much that I will marry you.... tomorrow!
ROMEO: Good morning friar Lawrence. I am here because I want to get married.
FRIAR LAWRENCE: What? Are you mad?! Young men’s love is not in their heart but in their eyes!
ROMEO: I am honest; I truly love my Juliet and I want to marry her. She is a Capulet.
FRIAR LAWRENCE: ok I will help you: this marriage is a good thing for your families. It could end
their rivalty.
MERCUTIO: Romeo and Juliet got married; they are so joyful. They think that their families will
approve and that they will make peace. They are wrong; their love is destined to a terrible end!
TYBALT: MERCUTIO! Montagues! I know you came to our party- now you must pay for this
offense!
MERCUTIO: buzz off! Leave us alone! (THEY FIGHT)
ROMEO: STOP! stop my dear friends, our families must be friends now...
TYBALT: NEVER! I hate you and all Montagues and I hate Mercutio too.
PETER: No, Mercutio, don’t fight! Calm down!
ROMEO: No, stop please! leave him... (TYBALT KILSS MERCUTIO) Noooooo!!!
Tybalt, you killed my best friend! fight with me now, you coward!
TYBALT: COWARD? fight, fool! (THEY FIGHT AND ROMEO KILLS TYBALT)
BENVOLIO: Romeo, you’ve killed him! now you must go away or they will put you to death, RUN!!
ROMEO: tell Juliet I love her, and I will meet her again soon.... (ROMEO RUNS AWAY)
NARRATOR: Poor Romeo is banished from Verona. He is in Mantua. The Capulets are furious
because Tybalt was their relative. Juliet’s parents don’t know that she married Romeo, so they
oblige her to marry Paris, Juliet is crying..
(JULIET GOES TO BED, SHE DRINKS THE POTION; THE FOLLOWING MORNING
EVERYBODY THINK SHE’S DEAD)
ROMEO: I want to kiss her for the last time (ENTERS ROMEO- HE IS DISTRAUGHT)
I can’t believe she’s dead, she’s still so beautiful.
My love, If I can’t be with you, then I will die too (ROMEO DRINKS POISON)
Oh , apothecary! Your drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss die.
JULIET: (WAKES UP) Where is my lord? Where is my Romeo?
What happened?
He is dead!!!! He drank this poison! and there’s none left...
If Romeo is dead. I will not live (SHE TAKES ROMEO’S DAGGER)
Oh dagger! This is your sheath (STABS HERSELF) Here rust and let me die.
NARRATOR 2: Romeo and Juliet’s love was very strong, but very unlucky. The prince of Verona
asked the Capulets and the Montagues to make peace, to honour their children’s eternal love. So they
did. For never was a story of more woe, than this of Juliet and her Romeo.
