Manabí

Manabí is one of the twenty-four provinces that make up the Republic of Ecuador, located in
the west of the country, in the geographical area known as the coastal region or Coast. Its
administrative capital is the city
of Portoviejo. It occupies a
territory of about 19,427.64 km²,
being the fourth province in the
country by area, behind Pastaza,
Morona Santiago and Orellana. In
addition to the continental
territory, the island of La Plata
and Salango island belong to the
province's jurisdiction. It borders
to the north with Esmeraldas; to the east with Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas and Los Ríos; to
the south with Santa Elena; to the east and south with Guayas, and to the west with the Pacific
Ocean, along a maritime strip of about 350 km.

The province of Manabí is one of the largest provinces in Ecuador, with 22 cantons, which are
part of the tourist places in Ecuador, showing the world the natural beauty of its beaches,
reefs, waterfalls, lagoons and more attractions that fill you with peace and harmony when
visiting them.

Beach Puerto Lopez


Puerto López is one of the 22 cantons of the province of Manabí and the southernmost of the 10
that have access to the sea: Pedernales, Jama, San Vicente, Sucre, Portoviejo, Jaramijó, Manta,
Montecristi, Jipijapa and Puerto López.
Along with Jipijapa and
Montecristi, Puerto López
are the 3 Manabi cantons
that contain the Machalilla
National Park, which
includes a land area of
56,184 hectares and a marine
area of 14,430 hectares.
The tours that explore the
marine area of the park
depart from Puerto López.
These tours travel through circuits that visit the island of La Plata, the island of Salango, reefs,
corals and the Pacific coast to observe the humpback whales that visit it.
Puerto López has beautiful beaches, in its rural area the most notable are Los Frailes beach, La
playita and Salango beach. The Puerto López beach is present in its urban area.
