SPECIFICATION & QUOTATION FOR KNIFE OVER ROLL COATER

Introduction

Our proposal is for a knife over roll coater generally as shown in outline on drawing 150/03/31
attached to be fitted in line on an existing coating line.

Substrate - Paper 100 - 300gsm (?)

Coating - Coatweight range 0.05 to 6mm

Tolerance ±0.05 mm or more

Speed - Typically 5 – 10m/min (?)

Equipment Description

The Knife Over Roll Coater as shown below, comprises a precision ground, chromed steel
backing roll, driven by a geared AC motor and drive with encoder feedback, at line speed with
manual speed trim

The whole knife assembly is pneumatically raised and lowered against the backing roll with a
wedged precision gap setting mechanism controlled manually by handwheels with totaliser.
An option is quoted for servo control of this gap setting which can be retrofitted at a later
stage.

The aluminium side dams are machined to match the radius of the backing roll. They are
connected via a double acting leadscrew, enabling them to be adjusted about the centreline
from one side for ease of change of coating width. A stainless steel catchment tray is also
fitted for when the blade is raised.

The unit will be built on suitable steelwork with operator platforms and all necessary path
rolls to facilitate alternative web path into the existing coating head.

The coater will be supplied with all necessary drive and control equipment – Parker SSD AC
vector drive and a small PLC for the control functions and interlocks of the coater. These will

be mounted in a cubicle that will require a line speed reference from the main machine.

Installation & Commissioning

We can offer a complete installation and commissioning service or supervisory only as required.
Quotations can be offered once the scope of supply is confirmed.

At our current workload, delivery would be 22 working weeks from order and agreement of all details.

Terms and conditions

Except where specified below, this offer is made in accordance with Delpro standard terms and
conditions.

Payment Terms

30% with order

70% on presentation of shipping documents

Warranty

All the work supplied and carried out by us is warranted against any defects of materials, workmanship
or design for a period of twelve months from completion of installation and commissioning. Warranty is
limited to rectification or replacement of any defective parts and excludes any element of consequential

Validity

This quotation is valid for 60 days from date hereof.
