Definition of Course Design

Course Design is the process by which the raw

data about a learning need in order to produce
25% an intergrated series of teaching learning
experience. (Hutchinson & Waters 1987)
Enviromental Analysis

Environment analysis considers

the situation in which the course
will be used and determine how
the course should take account of
this context.
Need Analysis
Assess how the learners will need to
use the language after they leave the
course
Measure the learners’ present level of
proficiency

Ask the learners what they consider to

be most important for them
The Application of Principles

The principles include the importance of repetition and

thoughtful processing of material, the importance of
taking account of individual differences and learning
styles, and principles related to learner attitudes and
motivation
CONCLUSION
To design an e!ective course, you need to consider timing and
logistics, recognize who your students are, identify the
situational constraints, articulate your learning objectives,
identify potential assessments, identify appropriate
instructional strategies, plan your course content and
schedule
