The Impact of Climate Change on Geography and Human Life

Climate change is one of the most pressing issues facing the world today. These
changes involve changes in global weather and climate patterns that have significant impacts
on the physical, social, and economic environments around the world. In a geographical
context, climate change gives rise to various phenomena that can be observed and studied.
Climate change results in changes in weather patterns, such as an increase in global average
temperatures, changes in seasons, and the intensification of extreme weather events such as
storms and droughts. Geography helps us understand how these changes affect different

In efforts to overcome climate change, collaboration with various scientific fields is
very important. Geography works together with environmental science, atmospheric science,
social science, and geographic information technology to collect data, model climate change,
and develop sustainable solutions. This collaboration creates the multidisciplinary insights
needed to face the challenge of climate change holistically. The importance of geography in
understanding and addressing climate change cannot be ignored. This field not only provides
an in-depth understanding of the impacts of climate change, but also plays a role in planning
the mitigation and adaptation measures needed to protect the environment and human well-
being. In education in Indonesia, teaching about climate change and the role of geography in
this context must continue to be improved to produce a generation that cares about and is able
to contribute to overcoming this global problem.
