Purpose:
This course aims at equipping the learner with useful knowledge that enables them to understand the nature
of IT projects, how these projects differ from other projects and the key issues in successfully managing IT
projects. The course will enable the learner to be an asset when involved in IT projects and also contribute
positively towards development and implementation of IT projects in an organization.
Course Objectives:
At the end of this unit of study, the student should be able to:
I. Identify IT projects activities and develop a plan for the implementation of the IT project
II. Select and build up an Information Technology project team.
III. Identify risks associated with hardware, software, human resource, or integrated projects and plan out the
mitigation measures
IV. Apply appropriate project monitoring and control techniques to manage the progress of IT project
activities
V. Apply parameters for evaluating the quality of the project, testing and verification techniques
VI. Identify and appropriately use the various communication strategies to communicate critical information
in IT projects management
