I gained knowledge about the significance of the constitution through today's discussion.

With the
assistance of the constitution, we have access to various resources. With the aid of the constitution, we
enjoy the freedom to express ourselves freely and are citizens of a democratic nation. Without the
constitution, our access in different resources will restricted, and we could end up like North Korea.
Additionally, we will be unaware of the government's actions toward its citizens and nation. The
meaning of constitution was stated, it is a set of rules that is established the duties, powers, and
functions of the institution of government. The two categories of sovereignty mentioned are internal
and external. While external sovereignty is predicated on independence, internal sovereignty refers to
absolute power within one's own area.

They were six importance and purposes of constitution. First, it is the charter creating the government,
without the charter, we wouldn't know what the government's intentions were. Second, it has the
statues of a supreme or fundamental law; its is the law to which all other laws must conform. Thus, all
other laws, including international, private, and public laws, must be considered secondary to the
constitution as a fundamental and paramount law. Private law deals with issues between two or more
people, while public law deals with issues that have an impact on society. Third, it is binding on all
individuals’ citizens and all organs of the government. It implies that no one other than a Filipino citizen
by birth may run for office or have power in the three parts of the government. Fourth, it is the
showcase of government since it prescribes the permanent framework of the system of government and
assigns to the different departments or branches, their respective powers, and duties, and to establish
certain basic principles on which the government is founded. Fifth, it is primarily designed to preserve
and protect the right of individuals against the arbitrary actions of those in authority. Sixth, it also set
limits on the unlimited power of the legislature. Unlimited power of the legislature means that it has
overall authority to makes laws.

Additionally, there are four categories for constitutions; as to their origin and history, includes two parts.
The conventional or enacted is the result of a deliberate process designed to codify the founding ideals,
whereas the cumulative is based on the accumulation of established norms, traditions, and judicial
decisions over time. Second it the as to their form which has two types: written and the unwritten.
Third, as to the manner of amending them, includes two kinds: the rigid or inelastic and flexible or
elastic. The flexible or inelastic constitution refers to how constitutions can be amended by regular
parliamentary procedure, whereas the rigid or inelastic constitution refers to how a document can be
amended with machinery or legal ritual. Lastly, as to its contents. Includes three parts: constitution of
government, liberty, and sovereignty. The constitution of government refers to how the government
operates and how the voters or the people give them their authority. The constitution of liberty refers to
defending its citizens against those who would abuse their power. The constitution of sovereignty
describes a process for amending its constitutions.
