OWS- Oily Water Separator

Use of Oily Water Separator

1. Measure the level in the tank from which you intend to discharge through the OWS

2. Verify the Vessel's present location (Latitude and Longitude) with the Bridge duty officer to confirm
that you are not in a "prohibited discharge" zone.

3. Start thr OWS, noting the time. Note the actual operational performance of the OWS.

4. Stop the OWS operation, noting the time and location as given by the Bridge.

5. Measure the level in the tanks, from where you discharged.

6. In the ORB, record the quantities pumped out as well as the remaining in the tank.

7. Note the Sludge oil tank volume as it may have increased due to the operation of the OWS and also
record the additional entry for such sludge tank.
