Discussion

Based on the data that we have gathered, the findings acquired in the research
supported the hypothesis that implies that the upshot of modular distance learning on
mathematics subject from both teacher’s perspectives and parent’s perspectives is
satisfactory.

From the analysis of response about teacher’s perspectives, it shows that the
upshot of modular distance learning on Mathematics subject is Satisfactory with a
weighted mean of 1.95. The analysis revealed that DepEd is excellently provides all the
mathematics modules given to the pupils which it has a 100 percentage. However, the
teachers say that the quality of the mathematics module provided by the DepEd is Poor
with a frequency of 4 out of 14 respondents because some teachers see some errors on
it. But regardless of those errors, the pupils were Satisfactory (S) in the following of
instructions in answering their Mathematics module with a frequency of 8 or (87%). And
we found out that the teachers were approachable regarding the difficulties on their
mathematics module and their way of communication with parents is excellent and for
their pupils is satisfactory. Moreover, the funds given by the government specifically
DepEd for modular distance learning is Excellent (E) with a percentage of (64%) and
have a weighted mean of 1.36. And based on the data, the major problems encountered
by the teachers is the reliable internet connection both in the school and at home that
needs so much improvement.

Furthermore, the analysis of response about parent’s perspectives revealed that

the upshot of modular distance learning on Mathematics subject is Satisfactory which
have a weighted mean of 1.96. Specifically, it revealed that majority of parents (45%)
said that they have enough time in helping their child’s mathematics modules. And 88%
of parents said excellent on the schedule set by the school for the retrieval and
submission of their child’s mathematics modules. And we found out that 80% parents
said satisfactory that they can tutor their child’s mathematics modules based on their
prior knowledge. However, it is a lot of work for those who didn’t have proper knowledge
about the topic so it would be hard for those parents to tutor their child. And
unfortunately, poor internet connection at home is also the problem of all the parents.

Generally, the study shows problems encountered on the upshot implementation

of Modular Distance Learning. It come up that DepEd provides the teachers with all the
mathematics modules given to their pupils. However, there is a problem with the quality
of the content of the mathematics module because some of it has errors like images are
not colored and some words are unclear. The teachers were all approachable and it is a
good thing for the parents so they can communicate to the teachers if they have some
concerns or problems about their child’s learning and modules. In this new learning
modality, there were no problems with the set schedule by the school for the retrieval
and submission of the mathematics module. The problem is that for both teachers and
parents were the reliable internet connection in the school and at home. And for
parents, they may have enough time in helping their child’s mathematics module but it is
a lot of work for those parents who didn’t have proper knowledge about the topic. Due to
pandemic, Modular Distance Learning is the only option in a place that have poor
internet connection. And on this reason, teachers and parents help one another to still
continue provide quality education to the pupil despite of the pandemic. The parents are
the right hand of the teachers. Both of them, all need is patience, understanding,
encouragement and despite the barricades, they must make learning possible for the
future of the children who have dreams.

Based on the findings of the study, several recommendations were gathered:

1. The DepEd must assure that the mathematics module given to the respective
schools or teachers doesn’t have any errors and they must provide a reliable
internet connection to the school if possible.
2. The teacher must monitor the progress of their pupils through social media
platforms and/or home visitation.
3. The parents must seek a quality job to support their daily needs.
4. The parents should tutor their child regarding his/her Mathematics module.
5. The parents should monitor and give their children moral support and
encouragement for their children to study more.
