What is an Adjective?

An adjective is a word used to describe a noun.

The blue car drove really fast.


Jamil bought a fluffy toy.
The lady wore a shiny necklace.
What is an adverb?
An adverb is a word that descibes a verb.

The girl ran quickly.

A dog barked loudly at night.

She put down the glass gently.


He never ate his vegetables.
ADVERBS OF MANNER
Adverbs of manner are usually formed from adjectives by
adding –ly:

bad > badly

quiet > quietly

sudden > suddenly


ADVERBS OF MANNER
But sometimes there are changes in spelling:

easy > easily


gentle > gently
careful > carefully

The adverb formed from good is well:


You speak English very well.

They normally come after the verb:


He spoke angrily.

Or after the object:


He opened the door quietly.
