topics in relation to image-based practices, including but not limited to those of artists and curators.

Many contemporary artists critique or parody museums and collecting practices in their installation and
conceptual works. This week we will look at the work of artists who comment directly upon the fields of
anthropology and art history in their own critical interpretations of the act of collecting and the role of the
museum as a culturally powerful institution.
