1. What is Cultural Identity?
Cultural identity is the identity or feeling of belonging to a group.

2. What are the unique traditions and rituals that exist in Indonesia?
1.) Fahombo
Fahombo is a “stone hoppng” tradition from Nias, North Sumatra. It is a rite of passage
for Nias boys into maturity. In this ritual, a local Nias boy jump over, the arrangement of
a 2 meter high stone sctucture.
2.) Tedak Siten
Tedak Siten is an ancestral heritage local wisdom culture, of Javanese for babies aged 7-8
months old. This ceremony is usually performed as a series of events that aim to make
the baby grow into a child.
3.) Metatah
Metatah religious ritual matata or is one of, the rituals performed by the Balinese a
Hindu child must perform this ritual as a rite of passage. the feet that have been cut will
be placed on a, yellowish- brown cloth which will be prayed over along with a plate of
offerings. After experiencing their teeth trimmed, the participants, will be asked to taste
six flavors bitter, sour, spicy, astringent, salty, and sweet. Each flavor has a meaning.
4.) Peresean
Peresean is a battle between two men armed, with a rattan stick (penjalin) and a shield
made of thick and hard buffalo skin (ende). In the Kingdom of Mataram era, the youth of
the, Sasak tribe in Lombok West Nusa Tenggara who wanted to be a soldier, must
participate in the Present ritual.
5.) Rambu Solo
Rambu Solo is local wisdom in the form of a custom, funeral ceremony from Toraja
tradition in South Sulawesi. The tradition requires the deceased’s family, to hold a
farewell ritual as a tribute to the deceased. The ceremony must be made festive, and the
family, must provide pigss and buffaloes.
