What is carbon capture unit?

CCU refers to the technologies that collects CO2 from open air or power plant
or other industrial emissions.

Objective of CCU?
CCU reduces the CO2 content from air to make carbon neutral atmosphere and
ultimately to reduce Global warming. And also to use the excess CO2 in industries
and for production of other products

Efficiency of CCU?
Post combustion CCU unit captures 90% of CO2 from air. Open air CCU takes
around 1,200 kilowatt-hours to remove a ton of carbon from the sky using direct
air capture.

Cost of CCU?
40-120 USD/ton for production of pure concentrated per ton CO2. Post
combustion CCU costs around 58.3 USD per metric ton.

Direct air carbon capture unit costs 125-335 USD/ton.

Why Post Combustion CCU and DAC?

Post Combustion CCU [Captures 90% CO2. Highest degree of purity. Does not
required fundamental changes to power plants and industries.]

DAC [To reduce CO2 content from open atmosphere.]

Other CCU units High capital cost and can’t be fitted to old power plants. And
energy consuming.
Amount of CO2 required per ton methanol production?
Accordingly, about 1.38 t of CO2 and 0.19 t of hydrogen are needed to produce
one tonne of methanol. About 10-11 MWh of electricity is required to produce one
tonne of e-methanol.

CCU units locations?

At Power plants, industries combustion unit. Open atmosphere at polluted
areas.
