Uruk

Uruk is one of the most important cities in Ancient Mesopotamia. Uruk is also best known for writing.
The city of Uruk is most famous for its great king Gilgamesh Gilgamesh is said to be the king of sumerian
city of Uruk. His body is consist of ⅔ of God ang ⅓ of a human or in short Gilgamesh was part god and
part man. As a young man, Gilgamesh traveled the world.Convinced that he is the strongest men alive,
he returns home to the city of Uruk, where he reigns as king.Gilgamesh becomes an arrogant and
oppressive ruler. He sleeps with any woman he wants.He has killed all the young men in the city. The
desperate pleas about GIlgamesh from the people of Uruk reach the gods, who then pass them along to
Anu, the god of Uruk.

Enkidu

Anu asks Aruru to create a man who can oppose Gilgamesh Enkidu was created by aruru by combining
water and clay. the gods created him to help the young king to become a better ruler. Enkidu was
created as a fully grown man. He has the spirit of the god of war, he serves as the saviors of the animals.
He eats grass and drink water from waterholes.

The bull of heaven

The Goddess Ishtar wants to marry the king but the king refuses to marry the Goddess Ishtar. Ishtar
becomes mad to the king because rejected. Because of anger, she told her parents on what happened
and demanded to hee parents that Anu should send the bull of heaven to Gilgamesh to have some
revenge.

Anu warns Ishtar and the bull on what they're planning because it will cause 7 years of drought and
femine. But Ishtar make sures that the people and the farm animals will survive for 7 years. While they
are on their way to uruk, they passed first into the river. The bull of heaven causes earthquakes and it
makes a lot of people die.

The curse of Ishtar

Ishtar suddenly appear for the revenge and throw curses to the king. Enlil is the god of Earth, wind and
the universal air, he declares that if the bull of heaven is killed by them, one of them will be punished .
Enkidu and Gilgamesh helps together to kill the bull of heaven. After they kill the bull of heaven, Enkidu
the friend of the king tells the king that he is about to died

Gilgamesh is disturbed by the dream, and the vision of the afterlife it gives him. He promises to keep
begging the gods to save his friend Enkidu. Gilgamesh, though, is unable to change the gods’ minds, and
Enkidu continues to sicken. Enkidu is bitter because Gilgamesh brought him to the city and the life that
killed him. Enkidu weeps for three days, then goes blind in his grief. He continues to sicken. He mourns
the way he is dying—not as a hero, but as a victim.
Enkidu's Death

Enkidu died because of punishment he is being punished by the gods for killing the bull of heaven. The
king saw that enkidu is already dead. He covers Enkidu's body with a cloth and tells him that "as one
veils a bride" or a piece of him that covers Enkidu's body. Gilgamesh has driven wild for his best friend.
He plucks out his hair and removes his garments. He speaks of Enkidu’s friendship and loyalty. He says
that all people will mourn Enkidu

The Return

Utnapishtim is a survivor of mythological flood and became immortal because of preserving people and
animals lives in the great boat that he built. He told Gilgamesh that if he could stay awake for six days
and seven nights, he will win eternal life. But if he does not, he will not make it to have an eternal life or
the immortal life.

Gilgamesh fails the challenge and loses his chance at eternal life. He then asks for advice about
peacefully accepting death. However Utnapishtim responds to Gilgamesh that he failed the challenge
and must leave the land of the gods, for he will never be immortal.

Special plant

Utnapishtim tells the king that the special plant is in the bottom of the sea if he gets it and take it back
to Uruk he and also the old men in Uruk will be young again. But as he already got the special plant
someone took it from him, and that man is the one who consumes it, he becomes young instead of king
and then he left the king without the special plant on him. Gilgamesh laments his fate, he has lost both
eternal life and eternal youth.

The death of Gilgamesh

Enlil declared that The king Gilgamesh died because of being old. All the people that lives in Uruk mourn
their king or bow to King Gilgamesh because of superhuman strength, courage and power. He was never
meant to be immortal, but to become a noble and honorable human being. He became a great king,
who built a city and temples and who did not oppress his people. Through his adventures, he inspired
those who came after him to achieve great things.
