Our goal is for healing process after an extraction to be as comfortable as possible.

The removal of teeth is


a surgical procedure and post-operative care is important. Please follow all instructions carefully to avoid
any unnecessary pain and possible infection.

If you have any difficulties or concerns following your surgery, please do not hesitate to call us or return to
our clinic for a follow-up exam.

INSTRUCTIONS TO BE FOLLOWED AFTER SURGERY OR EXTRACTION

1. Keep the cotton pack, biting it tightly for next 1 hour.

2. Do not spit outside for next 24-36 hours, keep swallowing saliva.

3. Do not rinse out/gargle for next 24 hours.

4. Do not feel the site with your tongue or fingers.

5. Apply ice externally for 10-15 minutes every 8 hourly for next 3 days.

6. After removing the cotton pack, have ice-creams, juices or milk- shakes after 1 hour.

7. Have liquids with glass and do not use straw.

8. Have soft & cold diet for next 3-4 days.

9. Start rinsing with warm salt water after 3 days and continue 3-4 times daily for next 8-10 days.

10 avoid brushing the site of surgery. On other teeth brushing can be started after 24 hours.

11. For smokers-do not smoke for next 48-72 hours.

12. Do not sleep/eat on the side of surgery.

13. Take medication exactly as prescribed by doctor.

14. Stitch removal to be done after 7 days.

15. Replace teeth after wound heals except wisdom teeth

16. Minor swelling is normal for 2-3 days after extraction.

17. Slight bleeding in the area may be seen, which will stop soon. (if heavy bleeding persists consult your
doctor immediately.)
