b) What did you find useful in this book for your social sector practice?
The book shows who imprtant is the education as a tool for uplifting marginalised
communities. It encourages educators in the social sector to enageg in dialogical
approach that fosters critical thiking and active participation. This might enable
oppreseeed category to challlenge the systems that oppress them.
c) What aspects of the book do you not agree with and why?
I think not everyone thinks in same way. Everyone individual is different in his or her
thinnking and which is at times influenced by the social and cultural norms. Also, not
all times this apporach of education can be applied to the systems. As our is a huge
population country with lakhs of students toc ater we need to have more structured
and comprehensive approach towards schooling. Also, it focuses more on oppressed
andneglects oppressors. We also need to understand how and why they behave in
such away.
d) What did you find difficult to understand and why? What efforts did you make to
understand?
The book uses philosophical langauge which went a bit bouncer at times. The term
conscientization is yet difficult to understand. The book has theoretical framework. I
struggled to understand how it can be applied to the real life scenarios. The idea of
transformative eduction is iedlaistic but seems practically impossible to apply.
