There are different types of fibres used in
HEPA:-
1. Glass Fiber

2. Synthetic Fibers-a) polypropylene

 Manufacturing process of HEPA filter

▶ 1.) Fiber production :- Glass fibers are

produced by extruding
glass into thin fibers.
2.) Paper formation:
The glass fibers are then woven into a mat or paper
using carding .
Impregnation: The paper is then
impregnated with a resin or adhesive to help
bond the fibers.
Pleating:the paper is pleated to increase the
surface area and maximize filter’s efficiency
▶ 4.) Frame assembly :- the pleated filter is
inserted into a frame which can be made of plaatic,
metals or other materials.
Testing or evolution
▶ Pressure drop measurement test
▶ DOP testing
▶ Aerosol count testing
▶ Media integrity testing
