2.1. You are required to:

 Explain the difference between trust, support and respect

Trust and believe have deeper meanings when it comes to using it in relationships.
trust would imply having entire faith in the other person. Respect is a phrase that
describes the attitude of holding a person or thing in high regard or highly appreciating
their opinions. To show respect, a person must feel awe for the subject of their
respect. On the other hand, Support is to agree with and give encouragement to
someone or something because you want him, her, or it to succeed.
When it comes to applying trust in relationships, it has a deeper significance. Trust
actually refers to a person's utmost confidence in another person. The person has faith
that the person they are putting their trust in won't do them any harm and will always
watch out for them. As an example, a person who lets a friend use his car has
confidence that the friend would not damage the vehicle and will return it in the same
condition. A further illustration is borrowing money. When a person lends money to a
friend, he "trusts" that the friend will repay the loan on schedule. A person who has
earned your trust will typically have your loyalty for the rest of their life. If either party
breaks the trust, it takes a long time to build it back.
Respect is a phrase that describes the attitude of holding a person or thing in high
regard or highly appreciating their opinions. Respecting someone is essentially
believing that they are a role model and are capable of great things. To show respect, a
person must feel awe for the subject of their respect. They have the utmost regard for
that certain individual, group, nation, organization, or religion, etc. They think that the
thing is trustworthy or that they are infallible. One of the hardest things to achieve is
respect, which is viewed as a concept that must be earned. It requires the person to be
or achieve something great. It is also considered as a give and take feeling, where in
order to earn respect a person must also take respect.
Lastly, Supporting someone means dressing into their desires. We have to feel what
the person-in-need truly needs, what they lack, whether it is an ability, strength or
knowledge, so that we can fully realize their need. Then, we can try to provide them
with the support they need in a way that they will not reject, but that they will gladly
accept, with gratitude and understanding.
 Explain how you can demonstrate support to colleagues

 Communicate often and regularly.

In a management position, communication is very important. Without taking
the time to communicate, it's almost impossible to anticipate your colleagues'
needs or promote growth. You are accountable for making sure your co-
workers have everything they require to succeed and are happy in their
positions as managers or leaders inside your firm. Regular communication will
become the standard within your team if you practice it.
 Help prioritize their work.
Sometimes the hardest thing to do is getting started. While it might be very
challenging for some people, some people thrive in chaotic surroundings with
little to no guidance. Helping your direct reports prioritize their duties is a
terrific way to support them. If they have a lot of things to do, they could feel
overburdened if they try to do everything by themselves. Instead, organize a
check-in and assist them in crossing items off their list.
 Plan goals together.
If you want your teammates to be excited about shared missions, they have to
be involved in the decision-making process. Having your teammates
collaborate when planning goals is a great way to get everyone aligned and
working towards the same objective.
 Be available.
If you work remotely or in an office, you should let people know that you're
always ready for a talk or a helping hand. Your colleagues won't feel inclined to
come to you if you're always busy and don't actively create time for them. It's
critical that none of your colleagues are reluctant to approach you. Don't be
scared to adopt a proactive attitude as well. Every week, set aside a period of
time for your co-workers to stop by and chat.
 Celebrate success.
One of the easiest ways to demonstrate gratitude is to celebrate the wins, no
matter how big or small. It's a great approach to support your team if you take
the time to recognize excellent teamwork or individual accomplishments within
your group. Has a major project just been completed? Tell everyone about
them on your Slack channel! On a team call, did anyone make an exciting
announcement? Take note of it and acknowledge their good conduct! If you
don't acknowledge your co-workers' accomplishments, they'll go and find a
place where they're valued more.

2.2. You are required to:

 Identify 10 tasks you perform on a daily basis in the workplace

I. Create a list of tasks for the day.

II. Check in with your colleagues.
III. Check my e-mails.
IV. Paperwork.
V. Prioritise important tasks.
VI. Eliminate unnecessary tasks.
VII. Cut out distractions and interruptions.
VIII. Work on projects.
IX. Take breaks.
X. Prepare my workplace for the next day.

 Prioritise these tasks explaining why some tasks are more

important than others

Here is a prioritized list of tasks with explanations for why some

tasks are more important than others:

1. Check in with your colleagues: This is important because it

helps you stay informed about what is happening in the
workplace and allows you to coordinate with your team.
2. Check my e-mails: This is important because it helps you stay
up-to-date with important information and allows you to respond
to any urgent requests or concerns.

3. Prioritize important tasks: This is important because it helps

you focus on the most important tasks first and ensures that
you are making progress on the most critical tasks.

4. Eliminate unnecessary tasks: This is important because it helps

you focus on the most important tasks and ensures that you are
not wasting time on tasks that are not necessary.

5. Cut out distractions and interruptions: This is important

because it helps you stay focused and allows you to work more
efficiently.

6. Work on projects: This is important because it allows you to

make progress on important projects and helps you achieve
your goals.

7. Take breaks: This is important because it allows you to rest and

recharge, which can help improve your productivity and prevent
burnout.

8. Create a list of tasks for the day: This is important because it

helps you plan your day and ensures that you are aware of all
the tasks you need to complete.

9. Paperwork: This is important because it helps you stay

organized and ensures that you are completing necessary
administrative tasks.

10. Prepare my workplace for the next day: This is important

because it helps you stay organized and ensures that you are
ready to start work the next day.
 Demonstrate how you can provide assistance to colleagues

Assisting your colleagues at work can help boost morale, increase productivity
and create a happier and healthier work culture. Professionals who feel supported
by their colleagues often are more confident in their abilities and can return the
support to others, which can be beneficial to the entire company.

 Communicate often.
Establishing reliable methods of communication can help colleagues connect
and clarify expectations. Encourage face-to-face conversation while also
encouraging a major communication channel, such as email or a group chat.
Hosting meetings where everyone may share opinions, voice issues, and inform
others of the status of their work is another strategy to ensure communication.
Building trust with colleagues is crucial when interacting with them.

 Be available to answer questions.

Make sure your employees know they can come to you with any queries they
have regarding their jobs. Although giving advice on your area of expertise is
usually useful, try to limit your responses to that. By doing this, you can make
sure that the answers you offer your colleagues are correct and practical.

 Be understanding.
Being a helpful colleague might also involve being forgiving during stressful
situations or when you make mistakes. If a colleague appears to be
experiencing trouble, attempt to figure out why, then come up with a plan to
assist them. This might demonstrate your concern for their achievement and
help them develop their professional skills.

 Prioritize tasks.
Many of your colleagues might have different responsibilities than you, even
if your team is probably working toward the same objective. As a result, it is
likely that one of your colleagues has a task that is more crucial than the
others. An environment where activities are prioritized can result in a more
productive workplace. Consider asking a co-worker for assistance if you see
them struggle with a task that is more important than the one you are working
on. Everyone will be able to timely accomplish company goals as a result of
this.
 Offer praise and feedback.
Consider offering consistent praise and feedback to your team members. This
can help build their self-esteem and motivate them to continue performing
well. Recognizing your co-workers' talents can also set a standard for positive
work culture and encourage others to do the same.

 Identify situations when you need to ask for assistance from

colleagues

 When you’re given a task or project with no direction.

 When you are given a task to complete in a short amount of time without any
assistance.
 When you are constantly working overtime to keep up with the pace of work.
 When you are confused about what your priorities should be.
 When you are not getting the assistance you need from your colleagues

2.3. You are required to:

 Identify common pieces of information that need to be

communicated with at least four colleagues

1. Schedule changes: If there are any changes to the schedule

(e.g. shifts, days off), it is important to communicate this
information with your colleagues so that everyone is aware
and can plan accordingly.
2. Special requests or needs of guests: If you are aware of any
special requests or needs of guests (e.g. allergies, dietary
restrictions), it is important to communicate this information
with your colleagues who may be interacting with these
guests (e.g. servers, chefs).

3. Maintenance or repair issues: If you notice any maintenance

or repair issues in the establishment (e.g. broken equipment,
plumbing issues), it is important to communicate this
information with your colleagues and the appropriate staff
members (e.g. maintenance, engineering) so that the issue
can be addressed.

4. Upcoming events or promotions: If there are any upcoming

events or promotions at the establishment, it is important to
communicate this information with your colleagues so that
everyone is aware and can prepare accordingly. This may
include informing staff of any changes to the menu or
specials, or providing information about how to handle
inquiries from guests.

 Explain or demonstrate how this communication can take place

There are several ways that the above information can be

communicated with colleagues in a hospitality establishment:

1. In-person communication: This can include talking to your

colleagues directly, holding meetings, or using visual aids (e.g.
charts, posters) to share information.

2. Email: This can be an effective way to communicate with a

large group of colleagues, especially if you need to share
information or documents.
3. Phone or text message: This can be a quick and efficient way to
communicate with colleagues, especially if you need to share
urgent or time-sensitive information.

4. Bulletin board or notice board: This can be a useful way to

communicate information to a large group of colleagues,
especially if the information needs to be visible for an extended
period of time.

5. Group chat or messaging platform: This can be an effective way

to communicate with a group of colleagues, especially if you
need to share information or documents in real-time.

6. Social media: Depending on the policies of the establishment,

social media may be a useful tool for communicating with
colleagues. This could include using a group page or page
specifically for employees to share information and updates.

7. Overall, it is important to choose the most appropriate method

of communication based on the type of information being
shared and the needs of the audience.

2.4. You are required to:

8. Apply techniques to suggest three improvements that can be

implemented in the workplace to enhance workgroup
performance

I. Identify areas of weakness or inefficiency: One way to

suggest improvements is to identify areas where the
workgroup is struggling or where processes are
inefficient. This could be done through observation,
feedback from team members, or data analysis. Once
these areas have been identified, specific improvements
can be suggested to address them.

II. Encourage open communication and collaboration:

Encouraging open communication and collaboration
within the workgroup can help to identify problems and
generate ideas for improvement. This could include
holding regular team meetings or establishing channels
for team members to share feedback and ideas.

III. Implement training and development programs: Providing

training and development opportunities for team
members can help to improve their skills and knowledge,
which can lead to enhanced workgroup performance.
This could include training on new technologies or
processes, or providing leadership development
opportunities.

By using these techniques, you can identify specific areas for

improvement and suggest changes that can help to enhance the
performance of the workgroup.
