I am professor in Sociology of
Education at the State Islamic
University of Sunan Ampel (UINSA),
Indonesia. By training, I have been
academically exposed to
multidisciplinary studies, from historical
and sociological studies, Islamic
studies, Southeast Asia studies, to
educational studies.
More than that, I am by training and
practicing a trainer with a range of
satisfactorily practical experiences in
human resource development,
educational management, and
journal article production.
I have written several articles on
Indonesian Islam and society with a
range of focuses from Islamic law,
political Islam, to Islam and pop
culture for some academic journals
and daily newspapers.
