the load. Whenever there is an excessive energy generates by Solar PV, it will be charged up to
the battery storage.

At night or during the shortfall of solar energy, the DC power stored in battery will be
withdrawn and converted to AC power to supply the load. The diesel generator is brought on
line whenever there is a continuous demand of load which cannot be catered by both Solar PV
and battery storage as well as to periodically charging the battery to maintain it in good
condition.

COMMISSION VALVE REGULATED LEAD ACID BATTERIES AT FOUR (4) SOLAR HYBRID
STATIONS AT PERAK, KELANTAN & JOHOR (PACKAGE 4)

The cost of equipment, instruments, tools, personnel, and other expenses incidental to the
tests, including replacement of damaged materials and subsequent retests, shall be borne
by Contractor. This does not include Employer's expense in witnessing the tests.

iii) Tenderer shall provide with the proposal, a list and specifications of the Contractor's
testing equipment to carry out a Performance and Field Test. Before
commencing/performing any test (i.e Factory Test, Performance Test and Field Test),
tenderer shall provide a complete testing procedure for Employer reviewing and approval.
The tenderer is requested to produce a specific test procedure/method to be carried out,
to ensure the battery's performance is conformed to Employer's requirement and/or
manufacturer specification.

iv) Failed tests

If the battery system or any part of it fails to meet the specified performance guarantees,
correct/rework or replace the part which fails, as mutually agreed with the Employer.

v) Tests results
Submit test results for Employer review.
a. Tests in Factory
- Batch test
Perform the production test at the factory and submit the test result for Employer
review and approval. The quantity of the battery shall be 5% (Five Percent) from
the total quantity of batteries supplied for this contract.
- Factory Acceptance Test (FAT)
Perform Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) at the factory prior to delivery of
equipment. The Employer reserves its right to witness the FAT if required.
- Performance Test
The Contractor shall perform a battery performance test at the factory prior to the
delivery of the batteries to job site. In the event that the batteries are imported
from foreign country in dry charged condition, the Contractor shall perform a
battery performance test at a certified local battery workshop or factory prior to
the delivery to job site. The Employer shall witness the test.

b. Field Test
Upon installation and commission of the battery system, the Employer will perform a
battery performance test in accordance with IEEE 450 on the fully-assembled batteries
at the job site. The test will be based on the battery manufacturer's ampere-hour
rating of the battery. Contractor may attend this test as noted in Schedule A,
paragraph 10.

transportation from the country of origin to Malaysia. Whether the battery is imported or local
manufactured, the Contractor shall deliver the battery system to each respective sites.

ii. Cleanliness
At the time of shipment, the equipment shall be clean inside and outside. Remove all rust, oil,
grease (except corrosion-inhibiting compound on cell posts), chalk, crayon, and paint marks,
and other deleterious material from all surfaces of the equipment. Touch up any cuts, nicks, or
scratches to the coating system.

iii. Preparation for shipping and storage

i) Packaging equipment for shipment to protect it from damage during shipment and
subsequent storage.
ii) Protect all openings to prevent damage, corrosion, and entrance of foreign matter
during shipment and storage.
iii) Adequately support equipment for shipment. Crate or box loose parts for shipment,
appropriately identified.
iv) Label and number packaging so that each section or assembly may be identified before
being uncrated.
v) Ship each cell dry and charged dry, and with separate electrolyte. Batteries that are
shipped charged shall be suitable for storage for a period of at least three months
without the need for charging.
vi) The Contractor shall provide a storage environment similar to the installation location.
vii) Provide storage and handling instructions including descriptions for periodic inspections
and/or storage maintenance to assure that no deterioration will occur during storage.
Securely fasten one set of these instructions to the outside of the shipping unit.
viii) Provide recommended instructions for long-term storage.

G. DOCUMENTATION

1. General
i) Submit the drawings and data required by the specification within the time specified for
Employer's review.
ii) The Employer's general review of drawings and data or waiver of same shall in no event
relieve Contractor of any responsibility to meet all requirements of this specification or the

i) Sufficient illustrative and descriptive material to allow a detailed evaluation of the

equipment being proposed. Contractor-provided data shall indicate the guaranteed
performance data, predicted performance, interface characteristics, installation
instructions, and construction features of all Contractor-provided equipment. The accuracy
of such information and the compatibility of such information with overall performance
requirements specified by the Employer, are the sole responsibility of Contractor.
ii) Preliminary general assembly drawing(s) indicating approximate overall dimensions and
clearances needed for operation and maintenance or a statement that Employer's battery
room dimensions are satisfactory to accommodate the battery string. Indicate the
minimum required clearances between battery racks, between battery racks and other
equipment/structures, and vertical clearances for installation.
iii) Completed data sheets included in Schedule A.
iv) Complete listing of codes and standards referenced in Part I: General, paragraph 4 which
