The process of moving products and services from raw materials to the finished product

is known as supply chain management. Supply chain management is essential to the business

sector because it enables producers to provide goods that meet or surpass consumer demand. A

supply chain might also lessen delivery delays for goods and services, which is essential for

preserving profitability and success. This process will not be successful without the help of a

supplier, which refers to a person or company that supplies the goods and services to the

manufacturers. The manufacturers are the people in a company that create the goods and services

they deliver to the distributor. On the other hand, the distributors' job is to provide the products

and services to the retailers or customers, and the cycle will continue.

The supply chain contains two main business processes. First is the inbound logistics,

also known as material management, and second is the outbound logistics, also known as

physical distribution. Material management focuses on creating or making a product and

services. Physical distribution is about disseminating or distributing products and services to

consumers. According to Schlegel, 1999, good supply chain integration can result in various

bottom-line benefits. It raised sales and profitability by improving customer service and value-

added, increasing fixed capital, using assets, and increasing sales and profitability. Customer

service can be achieved by expanding inventory availability, sharpening on-time delivery

performance, increasing order fill rates, and lowering post-sales expenditures. Strategic

partnership and collaborative planning could boost fixed capital because when people or firms

join forces, they can raise their entire capacity and reach a wider audience of potential customers.

Maximize the turnover of inventories and precisely link supply with demand to optimize asset
consumption. Increased visibility brought on by information sharing across supply chain partners

can improve the capacity to evaluate the effects of pricing adjustments, promotional activities,

and new product development. The best example of the supply chain is the linear chain, which is

a straight path from gathering raw materials to production until the final product. Here in our

country, we also have a lot of junk food, just like piattos, that is packaged in plastic where the

information about this certain snack is visible. After the manufacturing process, the foods will be

disseminated to wholesalers, retailers, and then to customers. In consuming piattos, customers

only eat what`s inside the wrap, and then after that, they will throw away the plastic since it is

useless anymore. This kind of situation is a good example of a linear supply chain, where there is

a straight path that the suppliers, producers, distribution service, and customers link together for

feed-forward material flow.

After the discussion, I feel like I have a better understanding of the role that supply chain

management and the two types of logistics play in the business process. These are the inbound

and outbound, where the inbound is the material management and the outbound is the physical

distribution. Before that day, I was unaware of the significance of the supply chain and the roles

it played in the operation of the company. However, I soon came to understand that business

operations cannot be conducted and cannot be successful without supply chain management.

Being able to comprehend the supply chain encourages me to think more about my future plans

and the kinds of services I can offer in order to attract clients and succeed in the industry. After

everything, I've come to the conclusion that the supply chain might have a major impact on the

experiences and pleasures of consumers. For example, if the things are delivered late, there is a

significant chance that the customers won't place future orders from your shop due to their

previous bad experiences. However, the input from consumers might also assist businesses in
enhancing their operations since, in the event that something is not right, suppliers,

manufacturers, and distributors would be aware of what has to be fixed. And, as a result of

everything that I have acquired, I would like to someday own a business that is capable of

surviving and succeeding in the business world. Since I intend to establish my own company

soon, this educational experience will undoubtedly assist me in making wise decisions. Even

though I wasn't sure what information, abilities, and characteristics are required to be an

entrepreneur, I believe that understanding the flow of products and services, as well as how to

manage workers and the firm at the same time, is a key aspect of business success.
