Exercise 2.

Listen to the following sentences and say what the person


should /or shouldn’t do.
Example. I’m hungry / get something to eat.

Answer: You should get something to eat.

1. I’m ill / go to work.

2. I’m hot / take your sweater off.

3. He’s tired / work so hard.

4. They are agitated / get so nervous.

5. They are bored / do something.

6. She’s out of work / look for a job.

7. He’s fat / eat so much.

8. I’m late / hurry.

9. We’re going to England / learn English.

Exercise 3. Use can, could and may accordingly, remember that can is
informal and used with people of your own age and friends. Could is more
formal, and may is the most formal.

Example. Ask your teacher for a pencil.

Answer: May I have a pencil

or: Could I have a pencil please?

Example Ask your brother to help you with your homework.

Answer: Can you help me with my homework.

1. Ask a friend to go to the cinema with you.

2. Ask a stranger on the street for help.

3. Ask your mum for an extra piece of cake.

4. Ask the principal of the school for an appointment.


5. Ask your father to use the car.

6. Ask your neighbour to tidy up his garden.

7. Ask your friend for €5.00.

8. Ask your parents to let you go to Paris.
