ABSTRACT

This report is aimed at explaining key areas of my training under the

Training Program undertaken at “MIND LUSTER “. An extensive
and comprehensive project was carried out on UX and UI Design
and the means by which they may be used and applied, specifically in
human computer interaction and software development; solving real
life problems making the experience better for the user. The training
was very comprehensive and it was designed to meet real life
practices that are used in developing theoretical ideas into products
used by all of us. So much experience was received because it is
relevant to what was taught in online classrooms and very important
for my future in the field of Human Computer Interaction.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The satisfaction that accompanies that the successful completion

of any task would be incomplete without the mention of people
whose ceaseless cooperation made it possible, whose constant
guidance and encouragement crown all efforts with success.

I thank our colleagues (Pankaj kumar choudhary) who have

helped in successful completion of the project. He will work with
me as a guide , Last but not the least I would like to thank my
parents who helped me a lot in gathering the different information
and also guiding me from time to time in making this project.
Despite of the busy schedule, they gave me different ideas in
making this project.

I thank each and everyone's effort who helped us in some or the

other way for small and significant things.
PREFACE

UX and UI DESIGN is involved in almost each and every facet of life

whether its mobile phone, television, air conditioner or video game.
On the other hand, the word User Research and User Experience is
used to collectively define a field that covers the gamut of various
human characteristics and choices. A simple yet feature packed User
Interface which focuses on mobility, programmability, sensibility,
flexibility, effective capability, involves the knowledge with creativity
of a trained user experience designer.
At MIND LUSTER under this training the focus was to facilitate
practical application of skill learnt in and out of the classroom, while
producing an environment conducive to growth of personal,
educational, vocational, resourceful and creative skills of students
and professionals. By facilitating and empowering students to
conduct research and development of new design ideas that can
change the future of human computer interaction.

INTRODUCTION

The term ‘UX and UI Design’ is quite complex. User Interface Design is a special
purpose technique that is used to make sure the intent and purpose of the user
to use the product is fulfilled and at the same time it is enjoyed by the user by
making it simple yet effective by implementing design ideas. It is basically a
combination of design and software integration to create the best experience.
These techniques can help users take critical decisions in an efficient way.
Built into the devices, the process is invisible to our eyes but we all have the
experience of the end of using any app or computer machine and that all
depends on the design of the product. The small steps taken while designing
can make a larger system more functional and efficient.
UX Design relates to the overall user interaction and experience with an
application or a website. It is well known that great user experience results in
great client interaction and great product usage.

Typically, the UX Design process include:

1.Research
2.Usability
3.Utility
4.Accessibilty
5.Design/Aesthetics
6.Performance
7.Human Interaction and Marketing

On the other hand, User Interface (UI) is more about visual design and
information design around screens.
Though a lot of process go into this graphical element, UI as the name implies,
about the things the user will actually see and interact. It delivers tangible
results and focuses on how an app or product surface look and functions.
It focuses on:

1. Anticipating what users might need to do and

2. Ensuring that the interface has elements that are easy to access,
understand, and use to facilitate those actions.

UI brings together concepts from:

1.Interaction Design

2.Visual Design and

3. Information Architecture

Different Design Process and their Applications

1.Interaction Design:

Interaction Design is an important component within the giant

umbrella of user experience (UX) Design.

-Interaction design focuses on creating engaging interfaces with well

thought out behaviours.

- Understanding how users and technology communicate, with each

other is fundamental to this field,

- With this understanding, you can anticipate how someone might

interact with the system, fix problems early, as well as invent new ways
of doing things,

Best Practices for Designing Interactions:

Consider these qualities and associated questions when creating digital

products that have an interactive element:
•Define the way Users Can Interact with the Interface
• Give Users Clues about Behaviour before Actions are Taken
• Anticipate and Mitigate Errors
• Consider System Feedback and Response Time
• Strategically Think about Each Elements
• Simplify for Learnability

8.
2. Visual Design:

Visual design focuses on the aesthetics of a product and its related materials
by strategically implementing images, colours, fonts, and other elements. A
successful visual design does not take away from the content on the page or
function. Instead, it enhances it by engaging users and helping to build trust
and interest in the brand.

A successful visual design applies the following

principles to elements noted above and
effectively brings them together in a way that
makes sense. When trying to figure out how to
use the basic elements consider balance,
contrast, Unity, Hierarchy, Scale, Dominance
and Similarity.

3.Interaction Architecture:

Information architecture (IA) focuses on

organising, structuring and labelling content
in an effective and sustainable way. The goal
is to help users find information and
complete tasks. To do this we need to
understand how the pieces fill together to
create the larger picture. The purpose of an IA
is to help users where they are what they have
found and what to expect.

My Project
As part of my project to design a finance app with Interactive
design and modern-day solutions to monitor expenses, savings,
investments, etc. I designed, a mobile App that I have been
working on during 6 weeks, using Figma and Adobe XD, a low
fidelity prototype using Figma, also a presentation of 10minutes
duration.

Initial steps

I was assigned to design “finance app” as a main project and after

reviewing all different problems and requirements of users
through interviews and research. I came to conclusion that there
are three basic problems people face while signing up for any
financial application.

1. Complicated terms

2.Too many options with cluttered environment

3.Sense of security breach while making payments.

To overcome these issues, I wanted to design the app in a way that

firstly there’s a simple tutorial and information about the terminology
so that the user can be familiar with the terms.

Secondly, the important things will be on the home screen so that

there is less visual clutter and user feels it easy to use and navigate.
These problems and data were based and backed by basic individual
research.

Research
Before going to start the user interviews I requested to do a survey to
understand what they feel about already existing solutions to the
financial needs of the users.

After doing it I decided to create a Google form with 7 questions and

post it on social network and share it with some potential users.

While the survey was online and receiving answers, I started to

formulate the design ideas accordingly and implement them.

Survey results (38 answers) & Interviews:

 69.5% of the respondents are between 21–38 years old.

 92.8% wanted an improvement in existing solutions.

 76.8% cares about savings and understand the importance.

 74.8% want to make investments and educate themselves.

 40.6% wanted to track their shopping and expenditure.

 81.2% consider they want to improve their financial

management.
Features
I had mark on my mind while deciding which features needed to be in
the financial app design.

 Notification menu with a daily quick knowledge byte about

financial terms and some tips.

 Analysis menu to track user’s spending, investments and

savings.

 Fingerprint and Facial Recognition for ease of use and

better security on the landing page.

 Analysis menu to track your sleeping hours, what days you

sleep more or less, REM sleep and more.

 Creating Health Widget based on the overall score of

different sections like cash flow, Loan, Insurance, Investment
and savings to encourage management.

CONCLUSION
This report has covered the basics, understanding and deep
knowledge and applications of the UX/UI Design and used along
with it, and indicates us how this process is revolutionizing the
world by creating better experience for billions of users across the
globe every day. The shift of design without the proper knowledge
of tools and process is happening in almost every field of making
something from scratch and designing. As a result, it is becoming
more and more important to gain expertise in the design and
construction of such workflow techniques and to explore their
various applications. I have undergone my Training at
INTERNSHALA. The report is based on the knowledge, which I
acquired during my training.
