The intonation patterns in speech, including stress, rhythm and pitch, are key to expressing meaning accurately as they can alter a message. Content words are stressed while function words may be reduced to a schwa sound, balancing high and low pitches in a sentence and allowing important words to stand out clearly. Recognizing native intonation patterns can help non-native speakers improve their own pronunciation and speaking confidence.

The intonation is the melodic pattern in a word or expression.
Is one of the most, or the most
important feature of pronunciation, it is connected to the stress and the rhythm and is key when expressing our selves, because the way we produced it can change the meaning of the message. There are content words, that are stressed, and function/structure words, that are unstressed. In a sentences, the function/structure word can chance the vowel to a schwa, so we reduced the vowel and connect the words, and with this changes we have a balance between the high and low pitch in the sentence. The words that are less important to deliver the message are going to be reduced to allow the important ones to stick out. So for a sentences to be clear, we have variation in the pitch. Recognizing the patterns, ours and the native speakers, helps us understand how English should be spoken, and allow us to become a stronger and more confident speaker.
