1. John Boyne is an Irish author born in Dublin, in 1971. His most famous and acclaimed
work is “The boy in the stripped pijamas”, which was written in 2006. It became a New
York Times N°1 best seller as well as adapted into a film, a ballet, and an opera.
He has written many bestsellers, among them two novels and one novel for children.
The novels are: “The heart´s invisible furry” and “A Ladder to the sky”. The children´s
novel is: “My brother´s name is Jessica”
His novels are translated into 59 languages, which makes him the most translated
novelist of all time, being “The boy in the stripped pijamas” the biggest selling novel,
worlwide by an irish writter.

2. Most important self characteristic related to the author would be that I am a amateur
writter. Personally, I tend to write about my own personal experiences, as well as in
my diary.
Likewise I enjoy reading since a very early age stories about everyday life, as well as
stories about children throughout the world. Like Mr. Boyne, which he enjoyed reading
major literacy since an early age.
Finallly, the author being gay, grew up in catholic Ireland, and was somewhat bullied
for his sexual orientation. Related to myself, I suffer from a handicap for which I have
been bullied a few times during my school years.

3. The story starts with Bruno, the protagonist of the story, comming back home from
school, and seeing his family as well as the people that work for them packing their
belongings. We get to meet Maria, the maid as soon as the chapter starts, Bruno´s
mother, Lars, the Butler as well as Gretel, Bruno´s sister, Cook, the cook, and Bruno´s
father.
A conversation ensues back and forth between Bruno and his mother asking and
inquiring the reason why they are moving. Innocent questions, as well as infant
remarks begin to be shared between both of them.
Bruno starts metioning his friends also, which include Karl, Daniel, and Martin. Then
realizing that he won´t be able to see them if he moves and that he will have to say
Good bye to them.
Finally, as he realizes that leaving is a certainty, he reminisces about the times he Will
be missing with his friends, certain memories of his house, as well as seeing his parents
get into an argument.
4. During world war 2, between 1942 and 1945, several american troops which included
african american soldiers, were sent to England to support the allies. The welcome was
not well received, and called a “friendly invasion”. To which, it was established as a
segregation between races. This created troops which were entirely either White or
black.
This could be compared to the novel in which being from the same side or Innocence
of both children, still they were treated under different regimens and had different
priviledges depending on which side they belonged to.
It is important to remark that despite the fact that the novel is fiction, it can be related
that both instances happened during the 2nd world war.
