Fewer landfills means better property values and more space to build other
things like hotels, restaurants etc.

Social impact

● Recycling helps to reduce the pollution caused by waste as harmful

chemicals and greenhouse gasses are often released from plastics
and other recyclable materials in landfill sites
● Recycling reduces the need for raw materials so that the rainforests
can be preserved, allowing natural habitats to remain safe.
● Large amounts of energy are used when making products from raw
materials. Recycling requires much less energy and therefore helps to
preserve natural resources.

Environment impact

● Recycling helps to reduce the pollution caused by waste as harmful

chemicals.

Promotes a healthy economy

● Recycling is important because it creates jobs and saves money for

generators of waste.
● The amount of jobs that the recycling industry makes is the cost of
implementing a recycling program.

● I would try to remove all landfills cause they take up so much room and are
very bad for the environment and I would want to replace them with
something that doesn't take up alot of room and also is good for the
environment.

● I would want the entire world to use reusable bottles and instead of those
plastic ones and plastic containers instead of zip lock bags and also
reusable bags instead of plastic ones.

● I would want everybody to stop throwing their trash on the ground and just
find garbage instead of throwing it on the ground. You would be making a
huge difference in the world by not throwing it on the ground.

Waste to Energy Incineration

● Waste to energy uses waste as fuel in order to create energy.

● This allows for products thrown out to experience a second utility life by
being used to create additional energy which can then be used.

Anaerobic Digestion

● Anaerobic digestion is a process by which bacteria and other

microorganisms can break down organic waste without the need for
oxygen and open air.

● It is seen as a renewable energy process, which uses waste to create

methane, among other products.

Advanced Technologies

● Pyrolysis uses high temperatures to break down organic waste into smaller
portions, which can then be disposed of more easily.

● Another process known as plasma arc gasification catalyzes organic

matter into synthetic gases and solid waste known as slag.

● The slag can then be used as a solid for construction material and other
purposes.

Did you know

Did you know the most waste produced in Canada is in alberta.

Did you know the largest source of waste is food

Did you know there is 35.6 million tonnes of waste in canada

Did you know the biggest landfill in canada is in Keele Valley

Commercial waste

Commercial waste is waste produced in school colleges, shops and offices.

Example:plastic paper etc.

Domestic Waste

The different household wastes which are collected during household activities
like cooking, cleaning, etc. are known as domestic wastes.
Example leaves vegetable peels excreta.

Chemical waste
Chemical wastes are wastes that are made from harmful chemicals which are
mostly produced in large factories. Chemical wastes may or may not be
hazardous. A chemical waste which is hazardous can be solid, liquid or gaseous
and will show hazardous characteristics like toxicity, corrosivity, ignitability, and
reactivity.

Sometimes I put food in the wrong bin like I would put a banana peel in the
garbage instead of compost.

When I was younger I used to just throw my finished food on the floor.

I would like for people to stop doing what I used to do.
