Dreams of being a designer

I have always had a big passion for clothes and fashion. I was part of the large percentage of

little girls who loved to play with Barbies in the early 2000s. With my Barbies, I would cut up

pieces of toilet paper and tape them onto my Barbies, pretending to be a designer. I had a journal

when I was ten that I received at my first communion, where I started to draw "designs." Many

films inspired me with clothing I liked. For example, Disney's live action "Cinderella," Disney's

"Enchanted", and "Titanic.” Once I reached my junior year in high school, I knew for sure that

being a designer was a career for me. I got accepted into the Fashion Institute of Design and

Merchandising (FIDM) at 16 years old but couldn't attend due to financial issues. However, I am

still in the works to continue pursuing this dream here at CSUN.

Along with my business management degree, I plan to work in fashion and design. This past year

has really tested my strength academically and emotionally. But even after it all, I can't imagine

myself pursuing anything else- at least not right now. Below are the designs that got me into

FIDM!
