Scenario 2

Arjun, Peter, Ivy and Erika are working on a team assignment. Things appear to be going
well. The assignment has been divided up into four parts with each team member doing
one part each. Towards the end of the assignment, the team members get together with
their individual parts and attempt to integrate the work together. Ivy and Erika suspect
that the work submitted by Peter may have been plagiarized from the Internet. However,
they don't want to offend Peter and with the deadline looming, the team submit their work.

Were the actions of Ivy and Erika reasonable? If Peter is later found to have plagiarized,
should all team members be penalized? Should all team members receive the same
penalty?

Answer: The steps that Ivy and Erika have taken are not in any way reasonable. Because
at that point in time, their sole concentration was on the deadline. They have not given any
consideration to the fact that it is a group endeavor and that it would, in the end, influence
them.

Because this is a group effort, everyone is liable and accountable for their contributions,
and they should, as a result, it is essential to encourage free communication among the
members of the team, even when discussing awkward circumstances. The key to
maintaining one's integrity is to locate means whereby one can respond to suspicions in a
manner that is polite and prompt before making a submission. Given that the situation can
become more complicated if action is delayed out of concern for upsetting a member of
the team, It is possible that addressing suspicions in a timely manner, even if done
sensitively, will prevent bigger implications in the future.

They can have the following:

1) Elaborating directly with Peter to make certain that our work is authentic.

2) Group Discussion for Clarification to Ensure Originality and Avoid Any Unintentional
Difficulties with Plagiarism to ensure originality and avoid any unintentional difficulties
with plagiarism

3) Consultation with the teacher to discuss the best way to manage this circumstance while
preserving the academic honesty of the institution and guaranteeing a just conclusion.
Should the rest of the team face repercussions if it turns out that Peter has been caught
plagiarizing? Should there be a uniform punishment for each member of the team?

It is common practice for educational institutions to punish all team members equally
when dealing with a plagiarized contribution. However, individual responsibility plays a
significant role in instances of academic dishonesty, and it is possible that it would not be
acceptable to punish all members of a team equally for the activities of a single member.

As a result, it is preferable to separate punishments because of each member's level of

involvement, understanding, and adherence to the principles of academic integrity. This
strategy seeks to maintain fairness by holding individuals responsible for their acts while
at the same time avoiding the imposition of unwarranted repercussions on individuals who
were not directly involved in the illegal activity.

Scenario 3

Foster has submitted an assignment for his course on Strategic Management. Almost 50%
of the assignment was taken from his project work on a previous course in Marketing. The
professor finds out about this and confronts Foster. Foster argues that the work he did on
the Marketing course was relevant to the assignment on Strategic Management, and that it
made sense to develop these ideas further building upon work he had previously done.

You are the professor. How would you respond to Foster?

Answer –

My response to foster

There may be some cause for concern regarding the originality of the work and its specific
relation to the goals of the current course if a considerable portion, somewhere around
fifty percent, of the work is recycled from another course.

In this setting, the objective is that you will demonstrate an awareness of the ideas of
strategic management, autonomous critical thinking, and the capability to apply these
concepts in a setting that is distinct from the marketing course. I strongly advocate the
utilization of prior knowledge; however, this should be accomplished within the
parameters of the prerequisites for the currently being studied course. This assignment
provides you with the chance to delve more deeply into the ideas of strategic management
and demonstrate your understanding of them within the context of this field.
Moving forward, I would suggest focusing your attention on using the principles of
strategic management, pulling from a variety of sources and research, while demonstrating
your capacity to synthesize and analyze information in a way that is specifically tailored to
the goals of this course. In addition, let's investigate how you may make use of the work
you've done in the past while ensuring that the current projects you're working on reflect
the specific learning outcomes and prerequisites of the Strategic Management class.

In this way, you will be able to expand upon the knowledge you already possess while also
satisfying the requirements for academic integrity that have been established for this class.
