1. At what point in the movie did Dr. Blalock realize Vivien had the potential to
become a doctor?

Based on my observations in the movie, I watched. Dr. Blalock realized

Vivien had the potential to become a doctor. He realized that Vivien had the
great potential to obtain so much more. Dr. Blalock hired Vivien as a
laboratory technician at the hospital where he worked. He noticed that Vivien
Thomas was a fast learner with particularly skillful hands. He also saw Vivien’s
notes that he is passionate to learn.

2. Why did Dr. Blalock ask Vivien to pick up test tubes in the lab, using both
hands and an instrument?

Dr. Blalock ask Vivien to pick up test tubes in the lab, using both hands
and an instrument because Vivien’s extraordinary hand skills were recognized
by him. He knew that Vivien was smart, and so skilled.

3. Why do you think Vivien operated on the hearts of dogs in Dr. Blalock's
research laboratory when he was preparing for the blue baby operation?

Since dog hearts are similar to human hearts in their own structure and
individual components, dogs were chosen as the patients for Vivien’s heart
operational processes in Dr. Blalock's research lab as he prepared for the blue
baby operation.
4. What did Dr. Blalock mean when he said to Vivien “They say you haven’t
really lived unless you have a lot of regret”?

In my own understanding based on what Dr. Blalock mean when he said

to Vivien “They say you haven’t really lived unless you have a lot of regret”.
It means that you're involved in making serious decisions. In fact, one could

argue that having no regrets is a sign of having not lived fully. To live life
without regrets doesn't mean you never make a mistake. It doesn't mean you
never fail. It means that you live life to the fullest and learn from your
experiences. We all have things we regret doing or things we regret not doing.
We stay in unfulfilling jobs and unhealthy relationships. We should remember
not what we lost but what we have done.
