REFLECTION

For underprivileged communities, community health nurses bridge gaps in the healthcare
system. Community health nurses employ professions including school nursing, public health, and faith
community nursing to enhance the general health of the people in their communities. A community
health nurse must possess the following positive traits and values in order to be successful: a strong
interest in community health nursing, strong interpersonal skills, a genuine interest in people,
emotional stability, good communicability, a helping and guiding disposition, and sensitive observation.
Furthermore, a community health nurse must to possess personal qualities including effective
communication, emotional stability, empathy, flexibility, attention to detail, probl em-solving skills,
interpersonal skills, quick response, and respect. Although effective communication is a fundamental
component of every employment, it is especially crucial for nurses. A competent nurse can handle
problems and interact with patients and families in an efficient manner. They have outstanding
communication skills, particularly when it comes to speaking and listening, and they may base this ability
on feedback from the team and patients. The capacity to tolerate pain and death without taking it
personally is emotional stability. A great nurse can handle the emotional strain of difficult circumstances
while still finding strength in the positive results that can and do occur.

When it comes to duties and working hours, an excellent nurse is adaptable. Similar to physicians,
nurses are frequently expected to work weekends, late or overnight shifts, and lengthy overtime. In the
medical industry, every action can have far-reaching effects. For this reason, a superb nurse closely
monitors every aspect, being cautious not to omit anything or make mistakes. A superb nurse has strong
interpersonal skills and works effectively with a range of individuals in a variety of scenarios. Nurses are
the intermediaries between doctors and patients. One of the most important traits of a successful nurse
is the ability to solve problems. This trait applies to managing the staff, handling the family, comforting
patients, and interacting with doctors. Nurses must be prepared to act swiftly in case of crises and other
unforeseen circumstances. Nursing employment frequently consists of responding to unforeseen events;
therefore, nurses need to be ready for everything. Excellent nurses honor both people and the law. They
maintain their objectivity at all times while keeping in mind the need for secrecy as well as various customs
and cultures.
On the other hand, nursing and public health sciences are the basic capabilities of public health
practitioners. This category comprises essential knowledge and analytical abilities in the fields of public
health sciences, nursing theory, economics, and other relevant fields. Applying knowledge in real-world
situations is necessary to be competent in this area. At the municipal, provincial/territorial, national, and
international levels, public health nurses are able to utilize their understanding of the background,
organization, and interplay between public health and healthcare services. Second, evaluation and
research. The key competencies required to gather, evaluate, analyze, and apply information—including
data, facts, concepts, and theories—are outlined in this area. A public health nurse is qualified to identify
the presence of a health risk or issue and to conduct an adequate analysis of available data to identify
relevant implications, uses, gaps, and limits.

Third, planning, carrying out, and assessing policies and programs. The abilities of a public health
nurse include describing specific policy options to address public health issues, integrating pertinent
research and implementing evidence-based practice, and systematically and continuously evaluating
actions, policies, or programs by gauging their impact on individuals, families, groups, or communities.
Fourth, alliances, teamwork, and advocacy. The competencies needed to influence and collaborate with
others to promote the public's health and well-being through the pursuit of a shared objective are included
in this area. Building partnerships and fostering group development are among the many ways in which a
public health nurse might apply her abilities in team building, negotiation, conflict resolution, and group
facilitation. Diversity and inclusivity come in fifth. Policies, methods, initiatives, and behaviors that are
inclusive are the product of attitudes and deeds embodied. A public health nurse can work with individuals
of different ages, genders, sexual orientations, and abilities as well as those from a variety of cultural,
social, and educational backgrounds to implement practices that are suitable and relevant to their cultural
background.

Communication comes in sixth. Information, views, and ideas are exchanged during
communication. A public health nurse can analyze data for audiences that include professionals,
laypeople, and the community. Leadership is another. This category is devoted to leadership skills that
increase productivity, boost morale, and improve the standard of the workplace. A public health nurse is
qualified to explain and put into practice the goals and objectives of the public health organization where
they are employed. And finally, accountability and responsibility in the workplace. This area covers a
variety of topics, such as the understanding that nurses must take responsibility for their actions and
ensuring they possess the necessary knowledge and abilities to guarantee the provision of competent,
safe, compassionate, and ethical care. A public health nurse is qualified to implement moral guidelines
and precepts while keeping proper nursing and public health ethics in mind.
