TEACHER’S DAY

Every year, India celebrates the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan as National Teachers’ Day
as a tribute to his contributions and achievements. Born on September 5, 1888, Dr Radhakrishnan not just
served as the President of India but was also a scholar, philosopher, and Bharat Ratna awardee.

Here are a few fun facts one must know :


a) It is believed that the custom of organising Teachers'
day on September 5 started when some of his students
visited Dr. Radhakrishnan to wish him a happy
birthday in 1962. He urged those students to observe
this day (September 5) as a way to honour all teachers.

b) In India, Teacher’s Day is celebrated on 5 September


while International Teacher’s Day is held on 5 October.
The interesting fact is that Teachers’ Day is celebrated
all over the world but everyone has set a separate day
for it.

c) Dr. Radhakrishna was also the first Vice-President and second President of independent India.

d) Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was awarded the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian honor of the country
in 1954.

1. a) Alphabet X

Notes:
Twitter has officially rebranded to “X” after owner Elon Musk changed its iconic bird logo. This is
the latest sweeping change since Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion last year.
The social media company also recently announced it was limiting the number of daily direct messages
unverified users can send.

2. a) Space X

Notes: SpaceX is preparing to launch the world’s largest privately-owned satellite, called JUPITER-
3. This impressive satellite will be sent into space aboard SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket from
Launch Complex 39A in Florida. This launch will be the seventh for the robust triple-booster rocket.

Notes: Recently, INDIAai and Meta India entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to
create a structure for collaboration and mutual cooperation in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI)
and emerging technologies. The objective of this partnership is to make Meta’s open-source AI models
accessible and usable through joint efforts.

4. b) Uttar Pradesh

Notes: The Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Mela is a scheme pertaining to the state of Uttar Pradesh, was
started in the year 2020. It has benefited over 12 crore patients in the state.
The Union Health Ministry has planned to adopt Uttar Pradesh’s successful healthcare model,
including the concept of Jan Arogya Mela, which provide medical attention to attendees and refer
critical patients to specialized hospitals.

Notes: In the city of Beijing, the amount of rain over the past week has broken a 140-year-old
record after being hit by Typhoon Doksuri. Typhoon Doksuri’s aftermath is causing widespread
devastation, leading to thousands of evacuations. At least 10 people have died and 18 are missing, and
officials have evacuated millions of people.

Notes: Russia’s first lunar mission in nearly five decades, Luna-25, crashed into Moon a day after
it had spun into uncontrolled orbit. The lunar mission was Russia’s first since 1976, when it was
part of the Soviet Union. Only four governments have managed successful moon landings: the Soviet
Union, the United States, China and India.

Notes: The BRICS group of major emerging economies – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South
Africa is holding its 15th heads of state and government summit in Johannesburg between August
22 and August 24.

including 53 other African Countries, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Indonesia and Iran.

Notes: India’s R. Satwiksairaj set the Guinness World Record for the fastest hit by a male player in

Malaysian Tan Boon Heong, who had produced a speed of 493 kmph with his smash.

Notes: Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa finished second in FIDE World Cup. Praggnanandha, who
turned 18 during the World Cup, was the youngest World Cup finalist ever, and is the youngest World
Cup winner. Seeded 31, Pragg is also the lowest seed to make the final of the World Cup.
Praggnanandhaa became a GM at the age of 12

Notes: Cristiano Ronaldo recently scored his 145th headed goal, breaking the long-standing record
of late German striker Gerd Muller.
Ronaldo achieved the feat when he scored his first goal of the season for Saudi Pro League club Al
