● What is my image of an educator and how did it come to be defined?

- Share what your

image of an educator is and how did the speaker assist you in your thinking?

-I believe that an educator is someone to assist in learning in the classroom, but also
someone who inspires their students to continue learning outside of the classroom. Dr.
Shelley assisted me in my thinking because she reiterated the fact that we should be
seeking to further our education. This means to not keep learning in the classroom, and
to keep being curious.

● What is my image of learning and how did it come to be defined? -Share what your
image of learning is and how did the speaker add to your learning?

Curiosity wonder, stay curious My image of learning is to continue being curious

throughout your life and years in school. Also, to always wonder the “why” behind
something.

● Is there a difference between being schooled and education? Share your thinking of
this and your continued learning from the speaker.

Yes, I believe there is a difference between being schooled and education. School can
only teach someone so much and a lot of learning happens outside of the classroom.

● What is the role of a Butler prepared educator and how did it come to be defined?
Share your thoughts on this and how the speaker added to your thinking of it.

The role of a Butler prepared educator is someone that received all the resources in the
classroom to be successful in another one. In addition to this, they gained field
experience in school settings. Also, Dr. Shelley spoke to how you should always find
something you are passionate about and find others who feel the same way, and then do
something important with that. She said that there are many people at Butler who
believed in the same dream she had, and they made it happen.

● Do I know and understand the impact of my own educational beliefs on myself and on
others?-share your thoughts and how the speaker assisted you in this thinking

Yes, I know and understand the impact of my own educational beliefs on myself and
others. I believe, along with Dr. Shelley, that you should meet people where they are at,
never use words like “them” and “those”, speak less and listen more, among other things.
These proved to be very helpful for Dr. Shelley, her colleagues, and her peers.

● What might my place and my role be as an educator?-share your thoughts on this and
how the speaker assisted you in this thinking

My dream role as an educator is either to be an Intervention Specialist or an

Occupational Therapist. I would like to work in a school with elementary aged students. I
want to teach my students to never be afraid to ask questions and to always push
yourself to be the best you can be.

● How do I document my ever-evolving answers to these questions so my thinking is

visible to myself and to others over time?
I will document my ever-evolving answers on this document or on another one, so I have it accessible
and I will share it with those who want it.
