*Summative Project / ISP (2 PARTS) :

~Worth 10% of your final grade & done entirely in-class (nothing is done at home
or goes home).

~Questions will be assigned at two different times throughout the year (Part 1 &
Part 2).

~The assigned questions will deal with the most recently completed units
(although it may include previous skills as well).

~You may use ONLY YOUR OWN PAPER NOTES in your binder and you MUST
work independently/on your own – NO laptop, NO textbook,……..

~All questions assigned will be due at the end of classes on the day that they are
assigned on and kept on file in my possession.

~If you are absent on the ISP dates it MUST be done immediately….as soon as you
are back to school. Contact me right away and we will arrange a time for you to
complete it (lunch, spare, before or after school,…).

~Class time & Due Dates – ALL done in class:

-PART 1 - Monday, December 18, 2023 & Wednesday, December 20 (Units # 1 – 4)

- If these dates are missed you MUST complete this Part 1 of the ISP before the
December break 2023 (before December 20th end of day) – NO EXCEPTIONS!!

-PART 2 - Wednesday, April 10, 2024 & Friday, April 12 (Units # 5 – 8)

- If these dates are missed you MUST complete this Part 2 of the ISP any time
before the April long weekend 2024 (before April 18th end of day)
- NO EXCEPTIONS!!

~As the questions are marked you may see your mark, however, this mark will
NOT be entered into your average until the end of the school year (end of May
2024).

~Your folder of completed, and marked, questions & your final mark will be given
back to you before your last Functions class in May, 2024.

☺ Good Luck!! ☺

**ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

Tests:

~If a test is missed a doctor’s note or an email/phone call from your parent/guardian is required.
PLEASE email me if you will be missing a test due to illness. If a doctor’s note is not provided, an
automatic zero (0%) will be given!!
~You cannot miss a test unless it is for a VERY LEGITIMATE reason!!
~You will be expected to write the test the first day you are present after your absence (if your absence
was legitimate) even if you do not have Math class that day. Come and see me first thing in the
morning, or email me if it’s an “at home” day, to arrange a time to write your test (it may be online).
~If you know of an appointment that you may have ahead of time on a booked test date, then inform me
as soon as possible and we will arrange another time for you to write it (do not assume that you can
write it when you wish!!). That includes any school activities (sports, trips,...).
~Make sure that you have all of the necessary supplies for each and every test (even if it’s online).
~If you fail (below 50%) a test you will be given an opportunity to re-write the test (a Re-Test)
again, however, the maximum mark you can obtain is a 50%. See me ASAP (or email) to arrange a
time to write the Re-Test. This is SCHOOL POLICY.
~There are no “re-writes” for quizzes.
~If you continue to have poor test results a phone call or email will be made to your parents/guardians .

Taking notes:

~You are expected to take notes every day there is a new lesson and have them in your binder.
~Anything that I put on the actual board in the classroom, including examples, must be written in your
notebook with the date and title at the top of the page.
~It may be helpful to print off the "Skeleton Notes" from EDSBY (in the "Course Planner" / Library
Folders) to help you structure your notes and get the majority of the information (especially if you are a
slow note-taker or tend to miss important information).
~You are responsible for any notes missed when you are absent and must get the information from a
fellow classmate or myself.

Homework & Assignments :

~You are assigned homework almost every class / everyday.

~If you use your class time wisely there is time at the end of a lesson to at least get started on the work,
if not finished completely.
~If you are having difficulties with your homework PLEASE come in after school (on my available
days) or arrange a Zoom time (if you are learning online)with me as soon as possible for EXTRA
HELP. Do not leave it until the night before the test (my extra help schedules are posted on Edsby).
~Your homework will be checked for completion at the beginning of each class and I may ask to see a
particular question to mark or ask you to explain it orally from time to time. SO BE PREPARED !!!!
~If you continue to have incomplete homework assignments a phone call or email will be made to
your parents / guardians.

Classroom behaviour:

~Try your best – This means doing your homework, completing assignments, studying regularly, being
involved in the class and seeking assistance.

~Be Respectful – Respect yourself, your classmates, your teacher, any guests that may come to our
class, and the classroom.

~Be Ready To Learn – You must bring with you to each class: textbook, binder, paper, calculator, pen,
pencil, eraser, ruler, completed work, and a good attitude.

~Be Punctual –When you are late, not only have you possibly missed an important part of the lesson,
but you have also acted as a disturbance to your classmates and teacher when you enter. When you
enter proceed to your seat quickly and quietly.

~Be Present – Due to the high volume of material taught in this course, it is extremely important that
you are in class daily. It is expected you will be caught up on notes and homework BEFORE class
begins, if you happened to be absent. If you are missing class, let your teacher know as soon as
possible.

~Academic Integrity – Plagiarism is the act of taking ownership of written material or ideas belonging
to someone else, whether knowingly or unknowingly. A student caught plagiarizing an assignment in
this course may receive an automatic mark of zero.

~Adhere to Deadlines: All deadlines are strictly adhered to, as in the “Real World”. Students may wish
to submit assignments before the deadline; however, any assignment handed in after the deadline will
receive a late penalty of 5% per day.

~You are expected to raise your hand for any question asked or answered and to be polite at all times.

~Absolutely no food, drinks (except for bottled water or unless it is a scheduled snack time or lunch), or
cell phones (except to use the agenda & please ask permission first), etc…. in the classroom at any time
– or they are MINE!!!

~You are expected to be in full & proper uniform at all times!!
