Personal statement
In today’s competitive world, embarking on higher educationstudies has become more of a
necessity than a luxury. As an ambitious individual yearning for personal growth and
achievements, I firmly believe that pursuing my studies will play an indispensable role in
realizing my objectives.
FirstFirstly, acquiring a master’s degree in Contemporary Islamic Studies has been a long-
standing passion of mine, shaped by my upbringing in a multicultural society. Born and raised in
a country with a diverse blend of cultures, including a significant Muslim population, I have
always been captivated by the deep-rooted traditions, teachings, and philosophies of Islam. This
exposure has fueledfuelled my desire to explore the multifaceted dimensions and current
dynamics of the Islamic world.
SecondSecondly, throughout my academic journey, I have honed my skills in critical analysis,
research, and academic writing, making me well-equipped for the rigorous demands of the
Master’s program at Hamad bin Khalifa University. My undergraduate degree in Islamic studies
has served as a solid foundation, enabling me to understand the complexities and nuances of this
vast field. I have acquired a comprehensive understanding of the Quran, Hadith, Islamic history,
and jurisprudence, which has further fueledfuelled my curiosity to delve deeper into
contemporary Islamic issues.
To complement my theoretical knowledge, I have also sought practical experiences within the
Islamic community. I volunteered at a local Islamic school, where I organized community events
and workshops on Islamic ethics and spirituality. This first-hand experience allowed me to
witness the challenges faced by contemporary Muslims and their urgent need for guidance rooted
in both tradition and modernity. ThisIt further reinforced my desire to contribute to the academic
field of contemporary Islamic studies, where I can engage with these important issues and find
solutions that align with Islamic principles.
Furthermore, I am eager to contribute to the field of Islamic Studies, deepening my knowledge
and promoting a balanced and informed understanding of Islam in today’s global society. I am
confident that the rigorous curriculum, esteemed faculty, and academic environment at Hamad
bin Khalifa University will provide me with an unparalleled opportunity to achieve my goals and
make a meaningful impact in this field.
In conclusion, my research interest focuses on exploring how Islamic jurisprudence addresses
contemporary bioethical dilemmas, particularly in the context of assisted reproductive
technologies, end-of-life care, and organ donation. I amAm interested in how Islamic legal
principles intersect with healthcare practices and ethical considerations in modern society. I have
engaged in dialogdialogue with healthcare professionals and some of our religious scholars to
promote greater understanding.
