“Wonka” is a movie directed by Paul King and is rumored to be coming out this December 15,

2023. This film is being promoted and advertised as a movie poster to persuade the audience in

movie theaters to feel allured into watching the film by conveying the message of the creation of

magical and unique candy. The magic of candy is conveyed by the shadow of the main character

being surrounded by a brightly yellow background. The warm orange colors covering the candy

make the candy pop out and look appealing.

The first visual item that seems to be eye-catching is the colossal wall of candy. In the

background of this movie poster, there is a wall made up of candy that seems to be triple the size

of the character. The candy is inside jars that are neatly stacked up upon each other. Inside these

jars, are a variety of candies such as gummy worms, gummy bears, hazelnuts, hard candy, and

more. These candy jars are covered in a warm orange undertone that makes it feel appealing to

the viewer looking at the poster. The warm orange undertones give the candy an illusion of

magic. In further explanation, the candy being shown could possibly have something magical

added to them. Since the color is used to make the candy stand out, it could signify that in this

film candy plays a huge role, and is what the film will be talking about.

Another visual component in this movie poster is the man standing in the middle bottom

of the poster. This man is seen to be wearing a plum-colored velvet trench coat with a black top

hat, pearly gray gloves, striped jeans, and black leather boots. The man is holding a briefcase in

his left hand and is holding a cane in his right hand. The briefcase he is carrying appears to be a
travel suitcase. The man is more than likely on a journey to go find something special. It could

possibly be that this film will show his journey of creating his own candy. This can be inferred

due to him carrying a brief suitcase as those are not frequently used anymore and nowadays

briefcases are connected with businessmen. Possibly he is a businessman and has his own

business or factory selling candy. In addition, his journey and struggles to get from where he is

at. The man is facing the candy, maybe he is on a journey to discover more about candy or

maybe he wants to create candy because it's something he may find appealing. The cane can

mean that the man also known as character may have a long journey ahead of him and the cane

may symbolize a long journey ahead or maybe inside that cane there is something hidden. For

example, maybe he has a hidden candy receipt he holds dearly and he needed to place it

somewhere people wouldn't suspect, but he wanted to carry it with him at all times to make sure

it wouldn't get lost. The character could also possibly be injured from his leg, and needs to take a

cane with him at all times. In addition, maybe the character wants to appear mysterious with the

cane since he is wearing a trench-coat, a top black hat, and gloves, so he may carry a cane around

to add to the mysterious appearance. The character's body language seems to be confident and

proud. He is possibly proud of his creations which would be special candy that is one of a kind.

Lastly, the mysterious bright light. This bright light looks like a magical portal that will take the

character somewhere special. This bright light could signify that candy is something he holds

very dear and that light is demonstrating that by highlighting it in a bright yellow shadow door

made out of light. It could also possibly be that maybe that light transports the character

somewhere magical as the character in the movie poster appears to be walking towards the light.

The light is being used to highlight the importance between the character and the candy. It could

be used to convey that he is walking towards a room full of candy. Candy that is magical and
unique and the light could also be used to show his accomplishment. The character possibly

started from a simple candy and later on, made a name for himself. And the light is showing the

bright accomplishments he could've possibly done. In short, this poster is used to showcase a

new movie that is most likely PG and a family-friendly movie due to the visual items used and is

being used as a showcase by advertising the movie in a poster that makes candy seem magical.

This poster conveys the magic of candy with a visual representation made out of appealing

colors to attract the audience's attention and highlighting the candy and outlining the character.
