The title of my opening sequence is called Stalked, the opening sequence contains many forms and conventions of real media
products. We chose to do this so we could make sure it was good as possible and to follow the lines of a typical thriller film. We
used the narrative theory of Barthes as our opening sequence relates to one of the five codes: this was the hermeneutic code as
throughout the sequence the actions make the audience want to know what will happen next. This is as our film doesnt reveal the
identity of the intruder and the reason why he wants to kidnap the younger sister we wanted to make an mystery for the audience
and for them to continue guessing what will happen to the younger sister.

Location: Throughout our opening sequence we used one location which was a house this location did fit the conventions of a
thriller film as the sub genre of kidnap films fits the stereotypical location as our main actor is kidnapped. We watched other
kidnap films such as Taken, and used some of their ideas to help structure our production around that. As a group we decided to
use this location as we felt our target audience to all genders 12-35 with the socio economic group of C1,C2 D and E would be
able to relate to this as they spend a lot of time at home and not being out so therefore they would enjoy the production more.
However there are a few aspects of a thriller film we didnt follow, as you could say our production was on the lines of a horror. It
could be seen as scary but we wanted our film to stick to the genre of thriller as we wanted to cause suspense and for the
audience to see that our main protagonist would face difficult situations. Overall choosing our location of a house wasnt difficult
as it fitted to all of the scenes we wanted to do that would include rooms such as the young child's bedroom. We also wanted to
create a sense of tension when watching production as the audience will be watching the opening sequence whilst being at home
or going home after will be weary of their surroundings as in homes you are meant to feel safe and not have worries about what

Title Of The Film- The title of my opening sequence is called Stalked. The storyline is about a young girl who is left home
alone by her older sister, she then goes to sleep unaware that an intruder has entered the house. She then hears the front
door go and the playing of a creepy music box coming closer to her room, she then jumps out of bed turns the torch on and
runs into her wardrobe. She hears the noise coming closer and closer to her and the intruders opens her bedroom door,
terrified the young girl watches the intruder through the crack of the door with the music box and she calls for her sister the
music box then slams. We chose to use this name as we wanted to base this on our actual 90 minute film this is as we
wanted to give an insight to the audience of what the storyline could possibly be or what it could fold into. This can go against
some conventions of a thriller films titles as you can tell from the title of what could possibly go on in the film, we chose to use
this title as we wanted to cause interpreted meanings for the viewers as it will make them want to watch our full production
and are intrigued on what could happen.

Title Font And Style- The title of my opening sequence is displayed at the end of the opening sequence, we used the font
Lucida bright in the colour white and ranged from 42& 60 size we used the colour white as wanted the name of the title to
stand out behind the black background. We didnt want to follow the stereotypical colour and font like other thriller films titles
such as Taken who used red this was as we wanted ours to be unique and to stand out to our target audience. We placed our
white text over a black background to symbolise suspense and the unknowing of what could happen next. Similarly, to the
Taken opening title we put our title all in caps as we wanted this to stand out and add suspense to the theme of our film
which is kidnap. We added a fade in and out effect to our title as we wanted it to stand out to our target audience and to other
viewers this could also help catch their attention of our production.

Costumes and Props- The costume of our protagonist played by Olivia Conneely follows the stereotypical look of a young innocent child who is wearing a
onesie representing a kids film she likes. This is as she is wearing normal clothing that a young child her age would wear this makes her look like a typical
young girl and makes it realistic. We chose this as we wanted Olivia to look as if she was following through the normal routine of what she wears and does
before and when she is sleeping this then will make her unaware of what was going to happen in the own comfort of her home and her room. As for her sister
who is played by myself, we decided we would have my look as a normal youthful teenager wearing casual clothing such as top, jeans, parka and trainers. This
fitted with the stereotypical look of what a teenager would wear, we wanted to keep myself as realistic as possible to make the audience unaware of what could
happen in a production that looks so like normal everyday events. As for our antagonist which was played by Jak Basi, we wanted his look to hide his identify
as he was the intruder, so we choose black gloves ,jumper ,jacket, tracksuit and trainers to keep the audience guessing of who the intruder could possibly be.
This fits with the stereotypical way of how a kidnapper looks as to the you dont want to give away the identity to the audience and creates suspense. This also
conforms the conventions of a thriller/ kidnap films as it creates an enigma and tension causing the audience wondering who is it? and what do they look
like?'. Throughout the opening sequence we used the main prop of a music box which is shown to the audience that the intruder is playing through the
sequence to scare and help kidnap the child. This then causes the audience to also get scared and worried as the creepy music of the box makes you unaware
of what could happen next. We saw this as effective throughout our production as it creates more focus on what could or can happen to the young girl, it helps
keeping the audience glued to the screen and guessing what's happening.

Camerawork And Editing- Throughout our opening sequence we wanted to make sure we included as many shots and angles as we could so it was interesting
to the audience. We used a range of medium close ups, closes ups, extreme close ups, point of views and long shot. Close up and extreme close up fit into the
stereotypical shots used in a kidnapping film as you want to see the expressions and reactions of Olivia. We also used many point of view shots as we wanted
to show the audience the experience through the eye of the protagonist and through the eye of the antagonist. At the beginning of our production we used a
close up shot to help set the scene of what was going on and this then fits with the conventions of a kidnap film as we've set an enigma of where is the girl
going. We done this by using the shot to show myself the sister tying her shoes indicating to the audience that I'm going on this then cuts to upstairs of the
younger sister in bed, this then put a stereotypical opinion on the older sister as she is irresponsible and cant look after her sister. As the cinematographer, with
the help of 2 other members we decided to use a variety of panning and hand held shots to add a sense of realism to the opening sequence.

The Story And How The Opening Sets It Up- The first shot used in the opening sequence is a close up shot which shows what
could go on in the upcoming scenes. The shot also allows the audience to see a glimpse of what the character looks like and
what she is planning to do. After this shot, the audience can see that the girl is planning to leave the house they are unaware that
she is leaving the younger sister in the house alone, it then skips to the young sister in bed the audience then sympathise for the
younger sister as theyve realised she's been left in the house alone and that she is vulnerable. By the younger sister being
asleep it automatically makes the audience feel worried that something is going to happen and this create suspense as they are
unaware of what's going to happen to the sister. This then fits with the genre thriller as the codes and conventions are enigma,
suspense and tension.

How The Characters Are Introduced- The main protagonist is introduced to the audience through the beginning of the first scene
as she is seen asleep in her room, this then shows the audience what she looks like and that she is a young girl. The main
protagonist is presented wearing bright colours and her features are clearly visible. The other protagonist is introduced to the
audience at the start if the first scene where she is seen leaving the house, this shows the audience that she is busy and that she
is a teenager through the use of the causal clothes and look she has gone for. It can also present her as someone who is making
a situation as mostly she is shown with a dark background behind her this can represent to the audience that something bad is
going to happen. The antagonist presents half way through the opening sequence where they are entering the house. They are
presented wearing dark clothing and their face is not visibly this automatically causes the viewer to worry about what could
happen inside the house.
