Word choices: antonyms, repetitive, and moral


 Antonym. The story describes the contrast between the three little pigs and the big bad
wolf, showing that good and evil coexist in life in the world. It is important that we
have to protect ourselves.
 Repetitive. The story completely repeats the words of the wolf and the three little pigs
when the wolf comes to the three little pigs' house. Helps children easily remember the
words used in the dialogue, and visualize the context of what happens to each little
pig.
 Moral. In the story, bad guy like the wolf will always find a way to achieve their
goals, but he died under the intelligence of the third pig. That shows that good always
wins over bad.

The sentence length in the story includes both short and long sentences. Short sentences are
often the characters' dialogue and are repeated to help children easily remember the events
that occur in the plot. Long sentences often describe the characters' actions that have
happened, are happening, and will happen, helping children have a coherent thinking about
the story's developments.

This is a interesting folk tale about the three little pigs that teaches children to think about
which building material is more durable: straw, sticks or bricks and is suitable for
kindergarten and first graders to start their adventures in the world of books and turn it into
an enjoyable experience.

The main character: the third little pig

Readers can relate to the characters in many different ways. Children can relate to the first
two pigs, they can always finish their work quickly, have a lot of time to play and the results
are not good. Others may be related to the third pig, they will spend their time working hard
and carefully to achieve excellent academic results.

The supporting characters: Two other little pigs, little pigs’ mother, wolf, and a man

Plot: Summarize the major events of the story (6 points)

“The Three Little Pigs” is a folk tale about three little pigs whose mother sent them into the
world to live an independent life. To pursue the same goal, each pig builds a house using
different materials. The first pig built a house of straw, the second pig decided to build a
house of wood and the third pig built a house of bricks. A Big Bad Wolf blew down the straw
and wood houses of the first two pigs, but could not destroy the third pig's house that is made
of bricks. The bad wolf still did not give up, he tried to lure the third pig out of the house, but
the little pig very smart escaped the bad wolf's trap and killed it. After that the third pig lived
happily all his day and was never trouble by a wolf again.

Time: In the past, “once upon the time”
Place: In the forest, “three little pigs lived with their mother in a forest”, and somewhere in
the world, because the three little pigs went out into the big world to seek their fortune.

The main message:


The story highlights the importance of patience, effort and practical in life, as it will pay off
in the future. The first two pigs were lazy, refused to put in the effort, they constructed their
dwellings quickly in order to have more free time to play and these houses couldn't protect
them in the face of danger. But the third pig who worked hard to build the brick house helped
him not only escape the bad wolf but also kill it.

The book cover illustration, three little pigs with three facial expressions
will bring children interesting curiosity that what the pigs are thinking and
what their situation will be like.

This illustration shows the hard work the third pig is doing, and children
may have seen similar images of house builders somewhere like this.

This illustration shows the third pig's willingness to protect himself.


Children may pay attention to the blazing fire under the pot because this
is realistic picture for preparing a meal. And the third pig also prepared
himself a dinner of wolf stew.

The placement of the illustration in this story will support children’s interest because it
clearly shows the different expressive states of the character's face. At the same time, it also
shows the way the characters do their work, including good things and bad things. The image
of a man appearing shows interactions between animals and humans in the world's past,
making children curious and imagine of stories that will take place later. The illustrations
with bright colors and exaggerated details that will be very interesting for children and they
can imagine what their facial expressions will be like when they are happy, sad, scared or
proud.

The focus of this stage is play, as it allows children to explore interpersonal skills through
initiating activities. Children can begin to think for themselves and plan activities, complete
tasks and face challenges.
For example, in the story, the third little pig always planned to deal with the wolf's plots and
successfully defeated the wolf and will not be harmed by the wolf again.
