CHAPTER 3

ORGANIZATION AND PRESENTATION OF DATA

3.1 Forms of Presentation of Data

1. Array Form
Array is an arrangement of numerical values according to magnitude (either
decreasing or increasing).

Example:
The Math grades of ten students, arranged in decreasing order are as follows:

91, 89, 88, 87, 85, 84, 80, 78, 77, and 75.

2. The Textual Form/Paragraph Method

Example:
“At last count, 38 air lines were operating Boeing 707’s, 720’s and 727’s over the world’s
airlines. The far-flung Boeing fleet has now logged an estimated 1, 803, 730, 000
miles (2,885, 948, 000km.) and has amassed approximately 4, 096, 000 revenue flight
hours. Passenger totals stand at upwards of 71.6 million.”

3. Tabular Form

Example:

1
4. Stem and Leaf Plot
A Stem and Leaf Plot is a special table where each data value is split into a "stem"
(the first digit or digits) and a "leaf" (usually the last digit).
For example, "32" is split into "3" (stem) and "2" (leaf).
The "stem" values are listed down, and the "leaf" values are listed next to them.

Example: 8 11 13 19 21 23 25 25 25 28 31 35 39 47

Stem Leaf
0 8
1 139
2 135558
3 159
4 7

5. Graphical or Pictorial Form

a.) Line Graph b.) Bar Graph
