Nyi Roro Kidul

The story from the province of Central Java, the legend of Nyi Roro Kidul is one of the most famous
folklore throughout the archipelago, NYI RORO KIDUL is known as the queen of the ruler of the southern
seas of the island of Java.

In the ancient Pajajaran kingdom, there lived a king named Raja Munding Wangi or often known as the
6th Siliwangi, he was known as a king who liked to hunt. One day he got lost in a jungle that he didn't
know. After a night of circling, he met the beautiful daughter of the ruler of the forest.

Wife 2: I'm willing to help you get out of this forest as long as you want to marry me.

Hearing these conditions the king was willing to marry her and live in the kingdom.

King : Well I will marry you.

After staying for a while, Raja Munding Wang felt that it was time to return to the kingdom and
immediately made a promise to his wife. The wife, although sad, still allowed the king to return to his
kingdom according to his promise, then Raja Munding Wangi was escorted out of the forest.

Wife 2: Grandpa occasionally comes to visit me.

King: If there is a chance to hunt, I will definitely come here.

The people of Pajajaran welcomed the return of the king, they thought that all this time the king had
died in the hunt. Permaisyuri and the whole palace held a big party because the king Munding Wangi
returned.

Citizens : The king is back the king is back (Happy cheers)

One night the king who was sleeping heard a baby crying outside, when he heard the sound, it turned
out that there was a baby lying in the corner of the garden when the king was about to hold him,
suddenly a beautiful woman who knew him very well, was his wife who lived in the forest.

Wife 2: You smell good, this baby is our child, I will give it to you to be raised among humans, actually I
am from the demons.

After giving up the baby, the queen disappeared. Raja Munding Wangi was stunned, confused, but he
immediately carried out the mandate. The baby was raised in the palace and was named Putri Kandita.
Putri Kandita grew into a very beautiful and kind-hearted daughter.

As he grew older, King Munding Wangi wanted to pass down the royal throne to his descendants, but he
was sad because he did not have a son to succeed the kingdom. Even though the king of Siliwangi
already had a beautiful daughter, he was still sad because he did not have a son, the king of Siliwangi
decided to remarry with his daughter's approval.

King : My daughter do you allow father to remarry father wants to have a son

Putri Kadita : If that's what you want, I'll allow it.

Then the king married Dewi Mutiara. After some time, Dewi Mutiara finally became pregnant with a son,
but with the reason that she wanted the future son, Dewi Mutiara made many requests to the king,
there were requests that she always had to comply with.

Dewi Mutiara : Husband I want to eat royal special food every day. This is the request of the baby in my
tummy

King : All right, my wife, I will order them to cook special dishes every day.

Then the king also ordered the maid to provide special food every day for the pearl goddess.

King. : maid prepared a special royal meal for my wife

Servants: All right, Sire

The maids cooked special royal dishes for the pearl goddess.

However, the longer the goddess of pearl's request got stranger, one afternoon she again made a
strange request that made it difficult for the king.

Dewi Mutiara: during my pregnancy, my husband felt strange towards the daughter of the candidate,
may I ask one more request?

King : say it O my wife

Dewi Mutiara : I hope Kadita's daughter is not in this palace anymore for the sake of smooth sailing my
son's pregnancy
The king was surprised to hear the request of the goddess of pearls how could he expel his beloved
daughter from the palace. Because the request was so unreasonable that the king did not grant his
request.

King: My wife, your request is impossible for me to grant, how can I expel my own daughter, it is very
impossible.

The king left his wife. Hearing the answer, the king of the goddess of pearls was very angry and
disappointed. He secretly held a grudge in his heart. He is looking for all ways to be able to realize his
wish. One day he secretly summoned a sorcerer in a low whisper for fear that the King Dewi Mutiara
would find out that she had met a witch in the garden behind the palace.

Dewi Mutiara : If you can make Kadita's daughter become an ugly princess who smells bad, I will give her
a very big gift.

Witch. : ok queen it is a very easy job for me.

In the evening, when Kadita's daughter was sleeping, the wind blew into her room, which smelled
rotten, like the smell of carrion, an unpleasant smell filled the room, Kadita's daughter, who was asleep,
did not feel the stench.

In the morning when Kadita's daughter woke up she screamed hysterically how shocked the princess
was to see her whole body full of festering scabies and smelling bad

Putri Kadita : Aaaaaaaaa (screaming) what happened to me why suddenly my body is covered with
scabies like this aaaaaaa (crying) my face is also full of scabies.

The king who heard the news became very sad in his heart. He brought in many physicians to cure his
daughter's illness, but none of them succeeded in healing and treating her

Physician: I beg your pardon, sir, Princess Kadita's illness is not an ordinary disease, I was unable to treat
it (disappointed face)

King : I understand there is something strange about my daughter's illness.

Physician. : all right, my lordship, I beg you to resign

The king understood that his daughter's illness was very unnatural, someone must have cursed her or
used her with magic so that it was not easy to cure. The problem that occurred was used by Dewi
Mutiara to influence the king, Dewi Mutiara to accuse Kadita's daughter of bringing bad luck to the
whole country. Because the king did not want his daughter to become gossip, finally with a heavy heart
he agreed to send his daughter out of the kingdom.

Dewi Mutiara : You should just expel Kadita's daughter from this palace so as not to damage the name
of the kingdom.

King. : I will consider

then the king went to meet his daughter

King : O my daughter with a heavy heart I will remove you from this palace for your good

Kadita's daughter. : no problem dad I'll go (sad look)

Kadita's daughter left alone to leave the kingdom even though her feelings were very sad, she had no
grudge against those who hated her. He was sure that God would repay him for everything that
happened to him, he kept walking crying day and night, Kadita's daughter walked through the forest.

Putri kadita : Lord, I beg you to return my face to the way it used to be (Crying)

then while praying he heard a woman's voice

also built a magnificent, sturdy, beautiful and authoritative kingdom with thousands of troops who
always accompanied her, who is now called Nyi Roro Kidul, queen of the South Seas of Java Island
