Lesson Plan
Objective/Standards:
Statistics and Probability – 6.SP
 6.SP.A. Develop understanding of statistical variability.

Anticipatory Set
Start the class with fun trivia involving probability that would lead into the topic for the day
which is statistics and probability.

Direction Instruction:
We will go through a PowerPoint I have created explaining probability and how to find it from a
sample set.

Guided Practice
Go through the PowerPoint and explain key concepts.
Teach vocabulary.
After each different concept there will be a check for understanding before continuing to the next
topic.

Check For Understanding:

Within the PowerPoint there will be questions and I will randomly pick on a student to answer
the question.
I would ask if any student needed any help/ answer any questions they may have.

Independent Practice:
Students will make their own probability game at home, and they will present their game to the
class the following week.

Assessment
Students will take a test over the subject matter.
