Architectural and symbolic thought of the ancient Yemeni architecture


during the prehistoric period

ABSTRACT

The architecture represents historical evidence on the area settlement. It is the most expression of
the social, intellectual and economic status of the community. This research represents the
theoretical and field study on ancient Yemen architecture during the prehistoric period, through
selecting architectural samples of different historical periods. They have been studied and the
meaning behind the architectural forms has been interpreted. The research concludes that the
civilization of Yemen grow during that period on the basis imposed by human life, and social and
economic status. The results indicate that there was creative awareness in the community, to
achieve an important leap of the prehistoric architecture in Yemen towards the historical era at the
beginning of the first millennium BC.
