TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE EVOLUTION OF WORLD TRADE AND

GLOBALISATION, WHAT FACTORS ARE DRIVING INTERNATIONAL

MULTIMODAL TRANSPORT

INTRODUCTION

Over the course of history, trade has substantially changed the world economy. World trade is

an extension of the market of buying and selling of commodities and services between

businesses in other nations. On the global market, commodities such as consumer products,

raw materials, food, and machinery are all purchased and sold. To emphasize that the purpose

of trading can be both a facility and a need and can take place if there is a profit for the

parties concerned. It is for convenience when trade increases efficiency by offering a broader

choice of commodities, frequently at minimal expenses, as is indicated by microeconomics.

World trade makes it possible for a country to obtain goods like energy, raw minerals, or

even agricultural products that would not otherwise be available in a national economy, it is

necessary. Countries, especially those with larger populations, could not maintain a decent

quality of living without international trade. Each nation could only create a certain quantity

of goods if only domestic resources were available, and scarcity would be uncommon. World

trade makes a huge range of resources possible.

Globalization, a movement of integrating nations, is also primarily driven by world trade.

Economic predictions with the help of globalisation shows that multinational trade and

investment will continue rise as advancement of technology lowers transaction costs. With

the globalisation and world trade, trade has been transformed by advancements in

transportation and communication, which have expanded its number and international reach

including trade networks, diversity, and volumes of exchange have increased. Direct

interactions were the first means of conducting transactions amongst people. This approach is
still used in countless internal operations as well as some international markets. However, the

distance between the providers and consumers of products and services continues to growth

further apart yet communication and modes of transport have broken the barrier of

complexity. The degree of living for the people in developing countries has increased as a

result of globalization. World Trade and globalisation has assisted in technological

advancements globally during the past 25 years. Individuals and businesses have gain from

lower pricing and more options thanks to easier access to cheaper imports. Businesses also

profit from increased consumer and buyer potential, expanded access to production-related

inputs, lower costs due to reduced levies, and increased numbers of potential customers. With

the aim of lowering overall transport and material handling costs, multimodal transportation

networks have also played a significant role and are now the foundation of international

trade. Multimodal transport systems

BODY

In accordance with a mass transit agreement, international multimodal transport is the

movement of commodities of at least two modes of transport from a location in one country

where the goods are picked up by the multimodal transport controller to a location in a

different country where the goods are to be delivered. The primary objectives of international

multimodal transportation are: lowering the cost of transportation; improving the product's

route from the maker to the consumer; and reducing the delivery time, Increasing the number

of potential transport options, enhancing the level of services, expanding the alternatives for

loading, and lowering the likelihood that the items will be damaged. There are situations

when the demand for transportation facilitation and international freight shipping are related.

Transnational operations enabled by international transportation are now vital in the business

world due to the growth of global electronic marketing and the development of economic

globalisation. As a result, in fiercely competitive business environments, deciding and

managing transport networks effectively has now become crucial for cutting costs and

improving customer service, particularly in multimodal transportation systems. There are a

lot of variables that must take place to lead to a successful international multimodal

transportation. Some of these factors include, governmental policies, tracking systems,

documentation processes, port accessibility and etc.

The mobility of world trade is governed by governmental policies and regulations, which are

primarily addressed through the organizational procedure of international multimodal

transportation. It affects a wide range of authorities, including those in charge of international

trade, foreign currency, taxes, insurance, ports, mass transit providers, operators, merchants,

and transhipment. International multimodal transportation has a substantial influence on how

to conduct business as a result of several modifications to policies, rules, and customs as well

as the use of modern innovation and methods.

It is well acknowledged that tracking systems are also information systems that play a crucial

enabling role in the transportation of freight. Companies must have an integrated mobility

transportation system in order to properly manage their distribution networks whether at

home and abroad.

Producers and customers are frequently than usual in different countries, International sales

always include shipping the products, often over distant locations. This indicates that in order

to sell things by offering documentation in exchange for payment, the customer and the buyer

must make arrangements for the shipping and insurance of the products and make sure that

all contracts and agreements must pass through the right documentation procedures.

Port accessibility being the final borne resort of freight transportation and delivery is part of

the overall transport system and is accessible by regular line services. In general, the more

advantageous it is to optimize freight transit and decrease movement in port procedures, time
and expense, the better the port accessibility and availability to accommodate more

commodities without leading to port congestion

CONCLUSION

World trade is essential because it enables nations to acquire products that would not

otherwise be available in their own markets. trade and globalization have contributed to

technological developments all over the world. Due to better access to cheaper imports, both

individuals and businesses benefit from lower prices and more options. To have a strong

international multimodal transportation, several important factors must occur. Governmental

regulations, tracking systems, documentation procedures and processes , and port

accessibility are a few of these elements.
