McGlincheys AKA
From Cathal Haydens most recent Album this in
known as Mrs Lawries. The version on the session
appears a little bit odd to me!
It is played in a set with Splendid Isolation

Mrs. Lawrie’s
I think the version bootboy posted
(https://thesession.org/tunes/568) six days after
this one is quite faithful to the way Cathal Hayden
plays it, but I’d love to know how it compares to
how the composer himself plays it. He probably
plays it differently every time, I know, but still. I
basically play it as Cathal Hayden has it, but
originally I learned it from Silly Wizard’s album So
Many Partings, in which they sort of combine it
with Splendid Isolation, shuffling the parts of the
tunes together. I think they also played it in Ador
instead of Gdor. Very confusing, and it was tough
re-learning it.

This is very close in notes to his version on the live

in london album. (Cough) He puts more rolls in
and simplifies some bits. But I can’t stand the
dumbed down versions I’m hearing these days…
(Cough cough)
