Final Format and Syllabus End-Semester Examination of CT425 Course

Date: 8 December 2022 (Thursday)

Time: 2 to 4 pm (2 Hours)

Close Books and Close Notes Examination. Scientific Calculator is Allowed. There will be Four
(4) Questions. Each question may have parts (a), (b), (c), (d) and (e). Question parts can be
answered in few words or one sentence or in one line or in few lines to one page. Figures and
tables may be required. Some questions may require derivation of equations. Some questions
may have numerical problems involving calculations.

Question 1 – infinitesimal dipole and other dipole antennas, resonant and nonresonant
antennas, antenna gains, (pages 133 to 141,153 to 155, Fig. 4.3 from Book by Balanis, pages
258 to 262 from Book by George Kennedy)

Question 2 – Antennas such as Yagi-Uda array, parabolic reflector antennas from (pages 279
to 284 from Book by George Kennedy, word file on dBi and dBd), array antennas (from
pages 249 to 252 and 257 to 260 from Book by Balanis).

Question 3 – Directivity, antenna efficiency and gains and mobile radio propagation (pages
39, 60, 61, 871 and 872 from book by Balanis, pages 113 and 114 from Book on Wireless
Comm. by Theodore Rappaport and pages 139, 140 and 143 to 147 from Book on
Electromagnetic Waves by E C Jordan)

Question 4 – Measurement of radiation patterns and measurement of gains of antennas
