The Honorable Josh Hawley

United States Senate
212 Russell Senate Office Building
Washington DC 20510

Dear Senator Josh Hawley,

My name is Devin Davis and I am a senior at Northwest Missouri State University with an interest in
medicine; specifically Neurology. From my studies, I have been educated on many debilitating illnesses
that affect many individuals, some of which are college students. I have always believed that students
with disabilities should have the resources they need to succeed during their college careers and that those
colleges should provide said resources and accommodations to help them to do. Moreover, I believe that
the families of these students should have all the necessary information and rights regarding school
accommodation and assistance before their children start the school year.

According to research, almost 1 in 5 college students were reported to have a disability (National Center
for Education Statistics. 2018). In the same study, it was reported that 12% of Graduate Students were
reported to have a disability. However, only 37% of those students reported their disability to their school
(National Center for Education Statistics at Institute of Education Sciences .2022).

I ask that you support (Think Differently about Education Act of 2023). By supporting this bill, you will
empower families of students with disabilities. It will confirm that the parents of these students are
notified of their rights before the start of the school year.

Sincerely,

Devin Davis
