CAT FLOWER HAT PATTERN

Thank you for supporting me and I hope you enjoy the hat!
I do not claim this to be an original creation, this hat was inspired by Tiktok user @/cutecatrock,
but it is not the exact same, I created this pattern. You may use this pattern for personal use
and to sell, just please reference me as the creator of this pattern!
Instagram: tortie.crafts
Supplies used:
- 4mm crochet hook (can use a smaller one if you want the hat to be smaller
- Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in the color “Carrot”
- Dark green yarn (I forgot the brand
- Needle
- Stitch markers (optional, can use bobby pins in place of marker)
Abbreviations:
SC – single crochet
CH - chain
SL ST – slip stitch
DC – double crochet
TR – treble (triple) crochet
BLO – back loop only
M – marker/stitch marker
MC – magic circle
FHDC – foundation half double crochet
FLO – front loop only
You can join these petals either by SL ST it all together or sewing it. I sew it together because
sewing is my personal preference. If you prefer to sew together then I recommend you leave a
long tail when you fasten off so you can use that to sew. When sewing (or SL ST this way too)
just run the yarn up the stitches, so it is not visible until you reach roughly halfway up the
petals. Then start sewing or SL ST until you reach the top.
First you will start by making the two whole petals (the front and back pieces)

1st Row: CH 21 (this will be the main body), CH 1, turn. Starting in the second CH from
the hook, “under” loop (the bumpy loop/wrongside, reference photo above)). Start it off
with 2 SL ST, following 3 SC, following 3 DC, then TR 5, then 3 DC, 3 SC, and then 2 SL ST.
CH 1 and turn.
- Since the chain in this row is being “turned” to the bottom, it for all intents
and purposes will not count as “row 1” or the “right side.” This was done
because I couldn’t find another way to make the petals how I wanted them
to look without making them too big.
2nd Row: This row will be extremely similar to the 1st one, except it will worked as
normal and not in any special loop. SL ST 2, SC 3, DC 3, TR 5, DC 3, SC 3, SL ST 2. CH 1 and
turn.
3rd Row: This row will be repeated much similarly as well, only difference is it will be in
BLO all the way. Working in BLO, SL ST 2, SC 3, DC 3, TR 5, DC 3, SC 3, SL ST 2. CH 1 and
turn. Working in BLO will make a horizontal line all the way down, imitating a “vein.”
4th Row: Repeat, but will be done normally (same as row 2). SL ST 2, SC 3, DC 3, TR 5, DC
3, SC 3, SL ST 2. This next part is optional, but I did it on mine, so it gave the bottom part
of the petals a more rounded look. SL ST around the bottom until you reach the other
side (should be about 3-4 ST) then fasten off (CH 1, cut yarn at desired length, and pull
all the way through to create a knot).
Next you will make two of these petals with the earhole on the right side. One will be for each
side of the ear. This will be extremely similar to the last petal, except for row 3 & 4 will be
different.
1st Row: CH 21, CH 1 and turn. Start in the second CH from the hook, working in the
“under” loop again. SL ST 2, SC 3, DC 3, TC 5, DC 3, SC 3, SL ST 2. CH 1 and turn
2nd Row: SL ST 2, SC 3, DC 3, TC 5, DC 3, SC 3, SL ST 2.
3rd Row: This row will be worked in BLO. SL ST 2, SC 3, DC 3, TC 3. After the 3 rd TC, CH 4
and then SL ST in the same spot as the last TC. Continuing in BLO, SL ST 6, and then SC 2,
SL ST 2. CH 1 and turn
4th Row: This row will be worked as normal. SL ST 2, SC 2, CH 1 and then SL ST 6, and
then SL ST up the chain (so SL ST 4), then CH 4, TC 3, DC 3, SC 2, SL ST 2. (Optional) SL ST
around the bottom to round it off, CH1, cut yarn, pull through.
This next part is the other side of the petals with the earhole on the left side. You will make two
of these as well. For this part I recommend placing stitch markers, but it is optional. I will be
putting the M for marker when I believe you should place a marker, putting it on the CH last
completed. This part may be a bit confusing, but just imagine it as working the last petal
backwards.
1st Row: CH 4, M, CH 6, M, CH 4, M, CH 3, M, CH 11, CH 1, turn. Start in the second CH
from the hook, working in the “under” loop again. SL ST 2, SC 3, DC 3, TC 3. Now bring
up the chain and SL ST on the 3rd CH (still working in the 3rd loop). Then continue SLST up
the next 4 CH. Then SLST the next 6. SC 2 and then SL ST the last 2. CH 1 and turn.
2nd Row: SL ST 2, SC 2, SL ST 6, skip the next 5 CH, TC in the 6th spot. TC 2 more times, DC
3, SC 3, SL ST 2. CH 1 and turn.
3rd Row: Working in BLO, SL ST 2, SC 3, DC 3, TC 5, DC 3, SC 3, SL ST 2.
4TH Row: Working normally. SL ST 2, SC 3, DC 3, TC 5, DC 3, SC 3, SL ST 2.
You can join all of these either by SL ST it all together or sewing it. I sew it together because
sewing is my personal preference. If you prefer to sew together then I recommend you leave a
long tail when you fasten off so you can use that to sew. When sewing (or SL ST) just run the
yarn up the stitches, so it is not visible until you reach roughly halfway up the petals. Then start
sewing or SL ST until you reach the top.
Next is the leaves of the stem. I found it easier to create them all together instead of creating a
bunch of separate leaves.
To create leaves:
- *FHDC 7, CH 1 and turn (7)
- Working in the 3rd loop, HDC. (7)*
- (optional) using the bottom loop from the first row create a SL ST (this is so it
avoids the loose look.
- After this keep repeating ** until desired amount (I made 6 in total)
- Once the last leaf has been completed, SL ST it with the first one so it is all
connected.
To create the stem:
- MC 6 (6)
- SC increase each stitch (12)
- SC in FLO (12)
- SC all the way around (repeat 3 more times, a total of 4)
- Stuff with scraps of yarn or stuffing
I SL ST the stem to the leaves (just lined up the holes) and then SL ST that joined part to the
flower hat and then decrease stitch until it is closed. If this doesn’t make any sense or seems
like too much work, then you can also just sew it together. I was unsure on how to explain this
step without it seeming too complicated.
