ELECTRIC HOW IS THIS COURSE DELIVERED?
The programme is a self-directed programme which is completed online through our Learning

VEHICLE COURSE LEVEL 1


IMI LEVEL 1 AWARD IN ELECTRIC/HYBRID VEHICLE AWARENESS
Platform.

Once the individual has completed all of the learning, they will be able to complete an online
40 minute multiple choice test. Once passed, the individual will be awarded the IMI Level 1
Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Awareness.

No minimum volumes. There is no eligibility requirement.

WHO MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN THIS COURSE?


This programme is designed for individuals who may encounter electric/hybrid (all variations)
vehicles and require safety awareness.

It is suitable for non-technical people working in roles such as:


• Valeters • Sales and aftersales
• Parts • Events.

It is also suitable for individuals working in roles such as:


• Vehicle recovery • Electric/hybrid professional vehicle
• Vehicle dismantlers drivers.

• Vehicle damage assessors


This programme is also suitable for individuals who manage people working in these roles.
Individuals completing the IMI Level 1 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Awareness will learn
the knowledge of the dangers surrounding electric/hybrid vehicles (all variations) and the
precautions to avoid potential injury.

This programme is designed for individuals who may encounter accident damaged or broken
down electric/hybrid vehicles.

It is suitable for individuals working in roles such as:


• Emergency services • Roadside recovery operations.

Individuals completing the IMI Level 2.1 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Hazard Management
for Emergency and Recovery Personnel will learn the knowledge required to work safely
around a vehicle that may have had damage to its high energy/electrical system.

ELECTRIC
WHAT WILL YOU STUDY AS PART OF THIS QUALIFICATION?

The combined IMI Level 2.2 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Routine Maintenance Activities
VEHICLE COURSE LEVELS 2.2 & 3 and IMI Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Repair and Replacement qualification will
cover:
COMBINED IMI LEVEL 2.2 AWARD IN ELECTRIC/HYBRID VEHICLE ROUTINE MAINTENANCE • Electric/hybrid vehicle system components and operation
ACTIVITIES & IMI LEVEL 3 AWARD IN ELECTRIC/HYBRID VEHICLE REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT
• Hazards surrounding electric/hybrid vehicles
• How to reduce the risks to yourself and others when working on electric/hybrid
vehicles
• Safely preparing the vehicle when carrying routine maintenance (excluding high
voltage components or systems)
• Working safely on an electric/hybrid vehicle
• Using information to carry out the task
• Carrying out repairs on high energy electrical systems
• Recording information and making suitable recommendations.
As a result, learners successfully completing this qualification will acquire significant core
knowledge and the ability to work safely around, but not maintain Electric/Hybrid vehicles

HOW IS THIS COURSE DELIVERED?


OPTION 1 – A 2-4 week blended study programme consisting of online learning covering
the knowledge of the programme, followed by a 1 day face to face practical training and
assessment day at Remit Academy in Derby or Motherwell, Scotland.
While at the academy individuals will complete an online 60 minute multiple choice test and
an Oral Discussion
WHO IS THIS QUALIFICATION FOR? OPTION 2 – A 3 day blended study programme consisting of 1 day (approximately 3-5 hours)
online self-study completed through our Learning Platform followed by a 2 consecutive day

ELECTRIC
WHAT WILL YOU STUDY AS PART OF THIS QUALIFICATION?

Individuals completing the IMI Level 4 Award in the Diagnosis, Testing and Repair of Electric/

VEHICLE COURSE LEVEL 4


IMI LEVEL 4 AWARD IN THE DIAGNOSIS, TESTING AND REPAIR OF ELECTRIC/HYBRID
Hybrid Vehicles and Components will learn the knowledge of the dangers surrounding repairs
carried out to live high voltage vehicle electrical components and systems.

VEHICLES AND COMPONENTS (VRQ) HOW IS THIS COURSE DELIVERED?


This is a blended programme consisting of online learning covering the knowledge of the
programme, followed by a face to face practical training and assessment completed at Remit
Academy in Derby or Motherwell, Scotland. While at the academy individuals will complete a
written assessment, oral discussion and are observed completing practical tasks.
Once all assessments have been passed, the individual will be awarded the IMI Level 4 Award
in the Diagnosis, Testing and Repair of Electric/Hybrid Vehicles and Components.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
• Cohort size is 6 • Minimum volume 4
• Eligible Technicians will need to possess an appropriate level 3 qualification for
electric/hybrid vehicle as well as a minimum of six months occupational competence
in an appropriate technical role.

WHO IS THIS QUALIFICATION FOR?


This programme is designed for technicians who maintain and repair electric/hybrid high
voltage vehicle systems and components. The purpose and aim of this programme is to
provide technicians, working on electric/ hybrid vehicles, with the required level of skills and
knowledge to carry out repairs on live high voltage vehicle electrical components and systems
safely.

AIR CONDITIONING WHO MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN THIS COURSE?
The Air Conditioning route is intended for technicians whose job role involves the maintenance

& F-GAS
and repair or accident repair (MET role or similar) of vehicles and will have contact with the
vehicle Air Conditioning system during their work activities.
IMI AUTOMOTIVE REFRIGERANT HANDLING (F-GAS) ACCREDITATION
THERE ARE TWO LEVELS WITHIN AIR CONDITIONING THAT REMIT OFFER:
REFRIGERANT HANDLER – The technician must be able to work unsupervised – ideally,
they should be in full time employment with at least three months experience to ensure they
are familiar with the skills, knowledge and techniques required to recover and recharge vehicle
Air Conditioning systems without knowingly releasing refrigerant to the atmosphere. They
should also be familiar with the knowledge of the legislation applied to the use of refrigerants
(F-Gas) used in the automotive industry.

SERVICE TECHNICIAN – The technician must be able to work unsupervised – ideally


they should be in full time employment with at least twelve months experience to ensure
they are familiar with the skills, knowledge and techniques as indicated with the Refrigerant
Handler level (see above), plus have the skills, knowledge and techniques required.

HOW IS THIS COURSE DELIVERED?


PART 1 – Technical training at training academy
PART 2 – Practical assessment

The Air Conditioning route is intended for technicians whose job role involves the maintenance
and repair or accident repair (MET role or similar) of vehicles and will have contact with the
vehicle Air Conditioning system during their work activities.

ADAS WHO IS THE ADAS TRAINING FOR?
This training module should be completed by technicians or senior technicians who work
on accident damaged vehicles or carry out routine maintenance and repair of vehicles. The
ADVANCED DRIVER ASSIST SYSTEMS candidate should also have a good level of knowledge and experience of vehicle diagnostic
testing systems to ensure they are familiar with the skills, knowledge and techniques required
IMI LEVEL 2 AWARD ADVANCED DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS CALIBRATION
to complete this module.

• Safe working practices and Health & Safety guidelines.
• Technical information sources.
• Types of ADAS diagnostic equipment.
• Relevant tools and equipment.
• The calibration environment set by the manufacturer’s instructions.
• Types of ADAS sensors and their function.
• Features of ADAS system operation.
• Workplace procedures for completing and storing documentation relating to ADAS
calibration.
• ADAS code of practice.
• Static, dynamic, and hybrid system calibration
• Wheel alignment principles.
• The purpose of fault codes

HOW IS THIS COURSE DELIVERED?


PART 1 – Training academy, practical assessment
This unique module is designed to ensure that the technician has the ability to calibrate
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). It demonstrates the technician’s ability to PART 2 – Online exam
identify and correctly interpret information relating to a specific vehicle and its ADAS features
to determine which method of calibration is required.
The module also assesses the technician’s ability to identify/locate and follow software
specific recalibration methods during the assessment process. They will also be required
to use the correct tools and equipment in order to demonstrate their ability to calibrate two
ADAS sensors on a vehicle with a minimum of two operating systems.
