STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

My name is Salman Sajid. I did my matriculation with 94.27% marks and intermediate with
93.63% marks. I have done my graduation in mechanical engineering from University of
engineering and technology Lahore. My hobbies are collecting and travelling. Besides I was a
part of many societies and activities in my under graduation career. I have done internships in
Pakistan international Airline and also Pakistan Civil Aviation authority. It was a great chance to
work with one of the finest and oldest departments of Pakistan. I have also done many short
courses in management and also in computer to get knowledge of other things. I have command
on some software used in Aerospace such as Auto CAD, Catia, CFD and can also work on
python, C++ and java languages.

I intend to do my masters in Aerospace engineering from Istanbul Technical University Turkey.

As it is one of oldest and finest institutions in turkey so, it has one of the finest engineering
department too.

The reason for choosing Turkey and ITU as a destination for doing my masters is that Turkey is
one of the fastest growing economies in the world and it is contributing a lot in the technological
field. Similarly, Turkey is multi-cultural country where people of different nations and different
countries live. It will give me chance to communicate with people of different minds and
different ideas. ITU has strong alumini and many great scientists and researchers are graduated
from there. One alumnus of ITU who is Vedat Dalokay inspired me much who designed Faisal
mosque in Islamabad. His design and architecture is the best translation of his creativity and his
architectural ideas. I believe that by studying in technologically advanced country like yours will
further enhance my knowledge.

Everyone has a dream and frankly, I always wanted to become a pilot. But my financial
conditions were not good enough. So, I decided to complete my dream by becoming Aerospace
engineer. In our city there is an airstrip of Pakistan Air Force and whenever I saw planes roaming
around, my interest was increased of finding that how these gigantic structures were created and
how they fly in air. My father also worked for aviation industry for around 20 years and
whenever I went with him at airport, my interest was gradually increased. And So, I decided to
become an Aerospace engineer.

Aerospace technology is the need of time and without this technology, a country cannot compete
with other fastest growing countries growing countries in the world. But unfortunately, Pakistan
is lagging far behind in Aerospace as well as Aeronautics. Only department which is better is
PAF aeronautics department. So, I decided to avail a chance outside the country and also the
country which has good engineering sense. And after getting knowledge and experience by
working in world renowned Aerospace industries, I want to imply that knowledge in my own
country Pakistan for the betterment of Pakistan.
After doing Aerospace engineering and becoming specialized in this field I want to grab EASA
Aircraft handling license and work for the Airlines of Pakistan. Aerospace engineer works for
space craft, satellites, missiles and aircrafts. But I want to work especially for aircrafts and for
the civil aviation. Many Aerospace engineers want to work for aerospace companies like
Boeing, Airbus and NASA but I want to work for commercial Airlines. The reason for this
special thinking is that I love the environment of airports and hustle and bustle which remains
everytime at airport and I think that it will make work more interesting and enthusiastic by
working in such environment.

I am aware that there will be many well qualified engineers for this program. However, I believe
that I am an exceptional candidate. I have significant knowledge relevant to this program and
critical aspects like Aerodynamics, combustion, CFD and Auto CAD. This background will
enable me to provide useful insights to my specialty. I aspire to update my professional
knowledge and earn advanced qualification in a rigorous academic environment filled with
people who are similarly inspired by the marvels of Aeronautics. And I am certain that, if
granted admission, I will be among the most passionate and dedicated students who have joined
this prestigious program.
