LOW VOLTAGE SWITCHING

PART 1 GENERAL

1.04 SUBMITTALS

A. Submit under provisions of Section 01300.

B. Shop Drawings: Indicate wiring diagrams of system, showing interface with branch
circuit wiring.

C. Product Data: Provide data showing dimensions and ratings for components.
D. Manufacturer's Instructions: Indicate application conditions and limitations of use
stipulated by Product testing agency specified under Regulatory Requirements.
Include instructions for storage, handling, protection, examination, preparation, and
installation of Product.
1.05 PROJECT RECORD DOCUMENTS

A. Submit under provisions of Section 01700.

B. Record actual circuiting and switching arrangements.

1.06 OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE DATA

A. Submit under provisions of Section 01700.

B. Maintenance Data: Include replacement part numbers.

1.07 QUALIFICATIONS

A. Manufacturer: Company specializing in manufacturing Products specified in this


Section with minimum five years documented experience.

1.08 REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS

A. Conform to requirements of ANSI/NFPA 70, British Standards.

B. Furnish products listed and classified by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. testing firm
acceptable to authority having jurisdiction as suitable for purpose specified and shown.

1.09 EXTRA MATERIALS

A. Furnish under provisions of Section 01700.

B. Provide three of each relay type.

C. Provide three of each switch type.

D. Provide three of each cabinet key.


PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.01 MANUFACTURERS

A. Lutron Lighting Controls or approve equal

B. Substitutions: Under provisions of Section 01600.

2.02 COMPONENTS

A. Power Supply: ANSI/NFPA 70; as required.

B. Switches: Momentary contact / three position switches, as required.

C. Key Switches: Match non-key switch ratings; provide spade key, or cylinder lock type
(as suitable).

D. Switches with Pilot Lamp: Momentary contact / three position rocker type, ivory color,
rated as suitable with integral red pilot light.

E. Switch Plates: Ivory or as required by Interior designer.

F. Master Selector Switch: pushbutton type position rotary dial type, with key lock out (as
suitable).

G. Programmable Interface Unit: As required.

H. Cabinets and Enclosures: Shop fabricate and wire. Include appropriate barrier strips
for mounting relays and separating energy-limited wiring from line voltage wiring.
Include knockouts for relay mounting. Include space for 20 percent minimum
additional relays and one additional power supply in each cabinet and enclosure.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.01 INSTALLATION

A. Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.


B. Use stranded copper conductor building wire in conduit for low voltage wiring in walls,
above inaccessible ceilings, [within hollow spaces used as air handling ducts and
plenums,] and where run exposed. Use remote control and signal cable suitable for
purpose above accessible ceilings.

C. Install relays to be accessible. Allow space for adequate ventilation and circulation of
air.

D. Interface with Programmable lighting controllers.

3.02 DEMONSTRATION

A. Provide systems demonstration.

B. Demonstrate proper operation of system.
