High noise generated from diesel generator.

Workers are working around the diesel generator room where generator is producing more noise

CONTROL MEASURES:

ELIMINATION

1. Relocate the diesel generator outside the workplace.

SUBSTITUTION

1. Replace the high noise diesel generator with low noise diesel generator.
2. Purchase and use new diesel generator.

ENGINEERING CONTROLS

1. Install silencers to the generator engine/ exhaust.

2. Isolate the diesel generator room by using sound proof materials.
3. Enclose the DG with sound absorbing materials

ADMINISTRATIVE CONTROLS

1. Provide maintenance to the DG

2. Provide job rotation
3. Provide rest breaks
4. Provide trainings/ awareness training on how to work in a noisy area/ how to use PPE / on ill-
effects of noise
5. Provide signages mentioning high noisy area/ mandatory use of ppe
6. Reduce the workforce in the noisy area
7. Appoint competent people for the job
8. Change the shift hours according
9. Provide monitoring by noise level meter / dosimeter.
10. Provide Health surveillance to the workers
11. Provide acoustic haven for the person.
